Եւ ոչխարները իր աջին պիտի կանգնեցնի, իսկ այծերը՝ ձախին:
and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Լաբանը գնացել էր իր ոչխարները խուզելու: Ռաքէլը գողացաւ իր հօր կուռքերը,
and laban went to shear his sheep: and rachel had stolen the images that were her father's.

Բոլոր նրանք, որ ինձնից առաջ եկան, գողեր էին ու աւազակներ, ուստի ոչխարները նրանց չլսեցին:
all that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.

Նրանք պատասխանեցին. «Մի եգիպտացի տղամարդ մեզ փրկեց այդ հովիւների ձեռքից, ջուր հանեց ու ջրեց մեր ոչխարները»:
and they said, an egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.

Եւ երբ իր բոլոր ոչխարներին հանի, նրանց առջեւից է գնում, եւ ոչխարները հետեւում են նրան, որովհետեւ ճանաչում են նրա ձայնը:
and when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

Բայց եկան ուրիշ հովիւներ եւ աղջիկներին հեռու քշեցին: Մովսէսը ոտքի ելաւ եւ պաշտպանեց նրանց, ջուր հանեց ու ջրեց նրանց ոչխարները:
and the shepherds came and drove them away: but moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.

Երբ Յակոբը տեսաւ իր մօրեղբայր Լաբանի դուստր Ռաքէլին եւ իր մօրեղբայր Լաբանի ոչխարները, մօտեցաւ, ջրհորի բերանից գլորեց քարը եւ ջրեց իր մօրեղբայր Լաբանի ոչխարները:
and it came to pass, when jacob saw rachel the daughter of laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of laban his mother's brother, that jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of laban his mother's brother.

Այդ մասին իմացաւ նրա հարս Թամարը, որովհետեւ նրան յայտնել էին, թէ՝ «Ահա քո սկեսրայրը գալիս է Թամնա՝ իր ոչխարները խուզելու»:
and it was told tamar, saying, behold thy father in law goeth up to timnath to shear his sheep.

Յակոբը էգ գառներն առանձնացնում էր ու դնում մաքիների դիմաց, նաեւ՝ մոխրագոյն խոյերը եւ բոլոր խայտաճամուկ ոչխարները: Նա իր հօտն առանձնացնում էր, չէր խառնում Լաբանի հօտերին:
and jacob did separate the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the ringstraked, and all the brown in the flock of laban; and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not unto laban's cattle.

Այսօր թող քո առաջով անցնի քո ամբողջ հօտը, եւ դու ջոկի՛ր իրարից բոլոր խատուտիկ ու գորշ ոչխարները եւ արածող բոլոր թուխ ոչխարները: Բոլոր խատուտիկ ոչխարներն ու պտաւոր այծերը թող լինեն իմ վարձը:
i will pass through all thy flock to day, removing from thence all the speckled and spotted cattle, and all the brown cattle among the sheep, and the spotted and speckled among the goats: and of such shall be my hire.

«Ահա ես ձեզ ուղարկում եմ որպէս ոչխարներ՝ գայլերի մէջ: Այսուհետեւ խորագէ՛տ եղէք օձերի պէս եւ միամիտ՝ աղաւնիների նման:
behold, i send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
