bijaste robovi grijeha, ali ste, hvala bogu, od srca poslušali ono pravilo nauka kojemu ste povjereni;

ostat æe vas samo malo, vas što brojni bijaste kao zvijezde nebeske, a sve zato što nisi slušao glasa jahve, boga svoga.
and ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the lord thy god.

i da u ono vrijeme bijaste izvan krista, udaljeni od graðanstva izraelskoga, tuði savezima obeæanja, bez nade bijaste i neznabošci na svijetu.
that at that time ye were without christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without god in the world:

a vi se bijaste obratili i uèinili što je pravo u oèima mojim, proglasivši slobodu za svakoga bližnjega svoga i preda mnom ste sklopili savez u domu koji se zove mojim imenom.

i kao što bijaste prokletstvo meðu narodima, dome judin i dome izraelov, tako æu vas spasiti da budete blagoslovom! ne bojte se, nek' vam jake budu ruke!'
and it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, o house of judah, and house of israel; so will i save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong.

"obarah vas k'o što bog obori sodomu i gomoru, bijaste k'o glavnja iz ognja istrgnuta, pa ipak se ne obratiste k meni" - rijeè je jahvina.
i have overthrown some of you, as god overthrew sodom and gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the lord.
