a beseecher besought the visitation of chastisement,

nikuonyesheni biashara itakayo kuokoeni na adhabu iliyo chungu?
shall i direct you to a commerce that will save you from a painful punishment?

hiyo ndiyo siku itakayo kusanyiwa watu, na hiyo ndiyo siku itakayo shuhudiwa.
that is a day for which humanity will be gathered together—that is a day to be witnessed.

wanaafiki wanaogopa isije teremshwa sura itakayo watajia yaliyomo katika nyoyo zao.
the hypocrites apprehend lest a surah should be revealed unto them declaring unto them that which is in their hearts.

enyi mlio amini! nikuonyesheni biashara itakayo kuokoeni na adhabu iliyo chungu?
believers, shall i direct you to a commerce that will deliver you from a grievous chastisement?

mimi nakuoneni mmo katika hali njema, nami nakukhofieni adhabu ya siku kubwa hiyo itakayo kuzungukeni.
i can see you are safe and prosperous, but i am afraid for you of the overwhelming torment of the (appointed) day.

kisha itakuja baadaye miaka saba ya shida itakayo kula kile mlicho iwekea isipo kuwa kidogo mtacho kihifadhi.
"then will come after that (period) seven dreadful (years), which will devour what ye shall have laid by in advance for them,- (all) except a little which ye shall have (specially) guarded.

wanaafiki wanaogopa isije teremshwa sura itakayo watajia yaliyomo katika nyoyo zao. sema: fanyeni mzaha!
the hypocrites are afraid lest a chapter [of the quran] be sent down about them, telling them what is in their hearts -- say, "go on mocking.

hakika katika haya ipo ishara kwa yule anaye ogopa adhabu ya akhera. hiyo ndiyo siku itakayo kusanyiwa watu, na hiyo ndiyo siku itakayo shuhudiwa.
in that is a sign for those who fear the penalty of the hereafter: that is a day for which mankind will be gathered together: that will be a day of testimony.

nyinyi hamna mungu ila yeye, wala msipunguze vipimo na mizani. mimi nakuoneni mmo katika hali njema, nami nakukhofieni adhabu ya siku kubwa hiyo itakayo kuzungukeni.
and give not short measure or weight: i see you in prosperity, but i fear for you the penalty of a day that will compass (you) all round.
