usiku mwema mtoto nakupenda na ndoto juu yangu

akasema: hebu nambie khabari ya huyu uliye mtukuza juu yangu.
(and) said: "look! this is what you have honoured above me!

kama kweli mngemwamini mose, mngeniamini na mimi pia; maana mose aliandika juu yangu.
for had ye believed moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

na amani iko juu yangu siku niliyo zaliwa, na siku nitakayo kufa, na siku nitakayo fufuliwa kuwa hai.

lakini yuko mwingine ambaye hutoa ushahidi juu yangu, nami najua kwamba yote anayosema juu yangu ni ya kweli.

[iblis (satan)] said: "see? this one whom you have honoured above me, if you give me respite (keep me alive) to the day of resurrection, i will surely seize and mislead his offspring (by sending them astray) all but a few!"

basi, nilipomwona tu, nilianguka mbele ya miguu yake kama maiti. lakini yeye akaweka mkono wake wa kulia juu yangu, akasema, "usiogope! mimi ni wa kwanza na wa mwisho.
and when i saw him, i fell at his feet as dead. and he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, fear not; i am the first and the last:

halafu akawaambia, "hii ndiyo maana ya maneno niliyowaambia nilipokuwa pamoja nanyi: kwamba ilikuwa lazima kukamilisha yote yaliyoandikwa juu yangu katika sheria ya mose na katika vitabu vya manabii na katika kitabu cha zaburi."
and he said unto them, these are the words which i spake unto you, while i was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
