what did he pray for?

དེས་རང་སངས་རྒྱས་དེའི་རྐང་པ་གཉིས་ལ་ཕྱག་འཚལ་ཏེ་སྨོན་ལམ་འདི་སྐད་ཅེས།
with that thought, he prostrated at the pratyekabuddha’s feet and made this prayer:

གཏན་ཁེལ་མིན་པའི་བརྒྱུད་ལམ
loose routing

དེ་དག་གིས་ལམ་གྱིས་དུབ་པ་བསལ་ཏེ།
where they paused to recover from the weariness of the road.

ལམ་ངན་པ་ལེགས་པར་སྒྲུབ་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ།
he pursues fully a ruinous path.

སྡོམ་ལ། ལག་རྡུམ་དག་དང་རྐང་རྡུམ་དང་། །
an index: those with missing hands, missing legs,

དེའི་འོག་ཏུ་འཆི་བའི་ཚེ་སྨོན་ལམ་འདི་སྐད་ཅེས།
later, as he was dying, he made this prayer:

དེ་དག་གིས་སྨྲས་པ། མཁན་པོ་གཡར་ལམ་དེ་བཟང་སྟེ།
they replied, “master, that is an excellent portent.

དགོངས་ན། སྤྱོད་ལམ་གྱིས་གདུལ་བ་ཡིན་པར་གཟིགས་སོ། །
thinking that, he saw they would be drawn by conduct.

དེ་ནི་སྨོན་ལམ་གྱི་དབང་གིས་ཏེ། གང་དུ་སྨོན་ལམ་བཏབ་ཅེ་ན།
the blessed one replied, “it is the prayers he made. what did he pray for?

ཀུན་འབྱུང་བ་དང་། འགོག་པ་དང་། ལམ་ཤེས་སོ། །
i know its origin. i know its cessation. i know its path.

བདག་གི་བྲམ་ཟེ་མོས་རྨི་ལམ་འདི་དང་འདི་ལྟ་བུ་ཞིག་རྨིས་ན་ཅི་ལ་ལྟ། །
“what does it portend,” he asked,

གདབ་པར་བརྩམས་པས་སྨོན་ལམ་དེའི་དབང་གིས་ད་ལྟར་དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པས་
because of that prayer, Śāriputra has now been singled out by the tathāgata

ཁྱིམ་བདག་སངས་རྒྱས་འཚོས་རྐང་པ་ལ་ཕྱག་འཚལ་ཏེ་སྟན་བཏིང་བ་དང་ཚེ་དང་ལྡན་པ་ཤཱ་རིའི་བུ་འདུག་གོ།
after prostrating at Śāriputra’s feet, the householder buddharakṣita laid out a seat and invited the venerable Śāriputra to sit.
