and by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

kuba okunene, ukuba ebesemhlabeni, ubengayi kukha abe mbingeleli, bekho nje ababingeleli abayisondezayo iminikelo ngokomthetho:
for if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:

kuba lo melkitsedeke, kumkani wesalem, mbingeleli kathixo osenyangweni, wahlangabezanayo noabraham, ebuya evela ekubulaleni ookumkani, wamsikelela;
for this melchisedec, king of salem, priest of the most high god, who met abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;

khawuphulaphule ke yoshuwa, mbingeleli mkhulu, wena nabalingane bakho abahlala phambi kwakho; ngokuba ngamadoda asisimanga. ngokuba, uyabona, ndiya kuzisa umkhonzi wam onguhlumelo.
hear now, o joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, i will bring forth my servant the branch.

ke ngoko, ukuba okunene inzaliseko ibingabakho ngobubingeleli bakwalevi (kuba abantu bewiselwe owobubingeleli umthetho), bekusafuneka ngantoni na ke, ukuba kubuye kuvele mbingeleli wumbi ngokohlobo lukamelkitsedeke, angabizwa ngokohlobo luka-aron?
if therefore perfection were by the levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of melchisedec, and not be called after the order of aaron?
