ויאחז בו וירפאהו וישלחהו׃
and they held their peace. and he took him, and healed him, and let him go;

ויחזיקו בו ויכהו וישלחהו ריקם׃
and they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.

וישלחהו חנן אסור בזקים אל קיפא הכהן הגדול׃
now annas had sent him bound unto caiaphas the high priest.

ויסף שלח עבד אחר ויכו גם אתו ויחרפהו וישלחהו ריקם׃
and again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.

וישלחהו אל ביתו לאמר אל תבא בתוך הכפר ואל תדבר לאיש בכפר׃
and he sent him away to his house, saying, neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

וישלחהו יהוה אלהים מגן עדן לעבד את האדמה אשר לקח משם׃
therefore the lord god sent him forth from the garden of eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

ויסף לשלח אליהם עבד אחר ואתו סקלו באבנים ומחקו ראשו וישלחהו נכלם׃
and again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.

ולמועד שלח עבד אל הכרמים לתת לו מפרי הכרם והכרמים הכהו וישלחהו ריקם׃
and at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.

ויבז אתו הורדוס עם צבאותיו ויהתל בו וילבש אותו בגד זהורית וישלחהו אל פילטוס׃
and herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to pilate.

ויואב וכל הצבא אשר אתו באו ויגדו ליואב לאמר בא אבנר בן נר אל המלך וישלחהו וילך בשלום׃
when joab and all the host that was with him were come, they told joab, saying, abner the son of ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away, and he is gone in peace.

ויאמר אליו הערים אשר לקח אבי מאת אביך אשיב וחוצות תשים לך בדמשק כאשר שם אבי בשמרון ואני בברית אשלחך ויכרת לו ברית וישלחהו׃
and ben-hadad said unto him, the cities, which my father took from thy father, i will restore; and thou shalt make streets for thee in damascus, as my father made in samaria. then said ahab, i will send thee away with this covenant. so he made a covenant with him, and sent him away.

ועודנו לא ישוב ושבה אל גדליה בן אחיקם בן שפן אשר הפקיד מלך בבל בערי יהודה ושב אתו בתוך העם או אל כל הישר בעיניך ללכת לך ויתן לו רב טבחים ארחה ומשאת וישלחהו׃
now while he was not yet gone back, he said, go back also to gedaliah the son of ahikam the son of shaphan, whom the king of babylon hath made governor over the cities of judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go wheresoever it seemeth convenient unto thee to go. so the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a reward, and let him go.
