the heart originates in the cervical area and takes its fascial connections along when it migrates into the thorax. the connective tissue, or mesoderm, cranial to the heart also migrates into the thorax. there, it ends up caudal to the heart and forms the first still incomplete layer of separation between the newly formed cavities of the abdomen and thorax. the future diaphragm develops from this transverse septum, as well as the fascial tissue that we call pleuroperitoneal membrane, and the striated muscles in the wall of the torso. the division into the lung cavities and the mediastinum takes place in the thoracic cavity: the pericardium develops out of the lining of the thorax, the lobes of the lung grow from dorsal into the thorax.
wie entstehen nun die beiden voneinander getrennten körperhöhlen?entscheidend dafür ist die verlagerung des herzens aus der halsregion in den thorax durch ein kranio-kaudales zusammenklappen des embryos in der vierten entwicklungswoche. das herz entsteht in der halsregion und nimmt seine faszialen verbindungen auf seiner verlagerung mit in den thorax. auch das bindegewebe, bzw. mesoderm, kranial des herzens wird in den thorax verlagert, kommt dort kaudal des herzens zum liegen und bildet die erste noch unvollständige trennschicht zwischen den nun entstandenen körperhöhlen des abdomens und des thorax. das spätere diaphragma entsteht aus diesem septum transversum, zusammen mit faszialem gewebe, das als pleuroperitoneale membran bezeichnet wird, und quergestreifter rumpfwandmuskulatur.in der thoraxhöhle vollzieht sich die teilung in die lungenhöhlen und das mediastinum: aus der auskleidung des thorax entsteht das perikard und die lungenhälften wachsen von dorsal in den thorax hinein.
