ولكن رئيس الشرط ابقى من مساكين الارض كرامين وفلاحين.

when the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
فمتى جاء صاحب الكرم ماذا يفعل بأولئك الكرامين.

and the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
فاخذ الكرامون عبيده وجلدوا بعضا وقتلوا بعضا ورجموا بعضا.

but nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard left certain of the poor of the land for vinedressers and for husbandmen.
ولكن نبوزرادان رئيس الشرط ابقى من مساكين الارض كرّامين وفلاحين

and at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.
ثم ارسل الى الكرامين في الوقت عبدا ليأخذ من الكرامين من ثمر الكرم.

what shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.
فماذا يفعل صاحب الكرم. يأتي ويهلك الكرامين ويعطي الكرم الى آخرين.

but those husbandmen said among themselves, this is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.
ولكن اولئك الكرامين قالوا فيما بينهم هذا هو الوارث. هلموا نقتله فيكون لنا الميراث.

he shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. and when they heard it, they said, god forbid.
يأتي ويهلك هؤلاء الكرامين ويعطي الكرم لآخرين. فلما سمعوا قالوا حاشا.

they say unto him, he will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
قالوا له. أولئك الاردياء يهلكهم هلاكا رديّا ويسلم الكرم الى كرامين آخرين يعطونه الاثمار في اوقاتها.

but when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, this is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.
فلما رآه الكرامون تآمروا فيما بينهم قائلين هذا هو الوارث. هلموا نقتله لكي يصير لنا الميراث.

be ye ashamed, o ye husbandmen; howl, o ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.
خجل الفلاحون ولول الكرّامون على الحنطة وعلى الشعير لانه قد تلف حصيد الحقل.

know that the life of the world is but a play and a pastime , and an adornment and a self-glorification among you and vying in respect of riches and children ; as the likeness of vegetation after rains whereof the growth pleaseth the husbandmen , then it withereth and thou seest it becoming yellow , then it becometh chaff . and in the hereafter there is both a grievous torment and forgiveness from allah and his pleasure , and the life of the world is but a vain bauble .
« اعلموا أنما الحياة الدنيا لعب ولهو وزينة » تزين « وتفاخر بينكم وتكاثر في الأموال والأولاد » أي الاشتغال فيها ، وأما الطاعات وما يعين عليها فمن أمور الآخرة « كمثل » أي هي في إعجابها لكم واضمحلالها كمثل « غيث » مطر « أعجب الكفار » الزارع « نباته » الناشئ ، عنه « ثم يهيج » ييبس « فتراه مصفرا ثم يكون حطاما » فتاتا يضمحل بالرياح « وفي الآخرة عذاب شديد » لمن آثر عليها الدنيا « ومغفرة من الله ورضوان » لمن لم يؤثر عليها الدنيا « وما الحياة الدنيا » ما التمتع فيها « إلا متاع الغرور » .
