when misfortune touches him he starts lamenting,
idan sharri ya shãfe shi, ya kãsa haƙuri.

then, when misfortune reacheth you, unto him ye cry for help.
sa'an nan kuma idan cũta ta shãfeku, to, zuwa gare shi kuke hargõwa.

they hate to see your success and rejoice if any misfortune befalls you.
idan wani alhẽri ya shãfe ku sai ya baƙanta musu rai, kuma idan wata cũtar ta shãfe ku sai su yi farin ciki da ita.

but when misfortune befell them from us why did they not humble themselves?
to, don me, a lõkacin da tsananinmu ya jẽ musu ba su yi tawãlu'i ba?

indeed, we sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune,
lalle mũ, mun aika da iska mai tsananin sauti a kansu, a cikin wani yinin nahĩsa mai dõgẽwa.

whatever misfortune befalls you is a consequence of your deeds; yet he forgives much.
kuma abin da ya sãme ku na wata masifa, to, game da abin da hannãyenku suka sana' anta ne kuma (alah) yanã yafẽwar (waɗansu laifuffuka) mãsu yawa.

they will answer, "lord, misfortune overcame us and we became an erring people.
suka ce: "yã ubangijinmu, shaƙãwamiu ce ta rinjãya a kanmu, kuma mun kasance mutãne ɓatattu."

if anything good happens to you they are grieved; if any misfortune befalls you they rejoice at it.
idan wani alhẽri ya shãfe ku sai ya baƙanta musu rai, kuma idan wata cũtar ta shãfe ku sai su yi farin ciki da ita.

no misfortune ever befalls on earth, nor on yourselves but we have inscribed it in the book before we make it manifest.
wata masifa bã zã ta auku ba a cikin ƙasã kõ a cikin rayukanku fãce tanã a cikin littãfi a gabãnin mu halitta ta.

and then, when he averts the misfortune from you, a group among you starts ascribing partners to their lord!
sa'an nan idan ya kuranye cũtar daga gare ku, sai gã wani ɓangare daga gare ku game da ubangijinsu sunã shirki.

and afterward, when he hath rid you of the misfortune, behold! a set of you attribute partners to their lord,
sa'an nan idan ya kuranye cũtar daga gare ku, sai gã wani ɓangare daga gare ku game da ubangijinsu sunã shirki.

and among the bedouins are some who consider what they spend as a loss and await for you turns of misfortune. upon them will be a misfortune of evil.
kuma daga ƙauyãwã akwai waɗanda suke riƙon abin da suke ciyarwa a kan tãra ce, kuma sunã saurãron aukuwar masĩfa a gare ku, aukuwar mummunar masĩfa ta tabbata a kansu.

every bounty that you enjoy is from allah; and whenever any misfortune strikes you, it is to him that you cry for the removal of your distress.
kuma abin da yake a gare ku na ni'ima, to, daga allah ne. sa'an nan kuma idan cũta ta shãfeku, to, zuwa gare shi kuke hargõwa.

indeed when we give man a taste of our mercy, he exults in it. but if any misfortune afflicts them on account of their deeds, man is utterly ungrateful.
kuma lalle ne, mũ idan mun ɗanɗana wa mutum wata rahama daga gare mu, sai ya yi farin ciki da ita, kuma idan wata masĩfa ta sãme su sabõda abin da hannayensu suka gabãtar, to, lalle ne mutum mai tsananin kãfirci ne.

as for unbelievers, they will be visited by misfortune endlessly for what they have done; or it would sit in their homes till the promised threat of god comes to pass.
kuma waɗanda suka yi kãfirci ba zã su gushe ba wata masĩfa tanã samun su sabõda abin da suka aikata, kõ kuwa ka saukã kusa da gidãjẽnsu, har wa'adin allah ya zo.

and we did indeed send messengers to other nations before you and then we seized those nations with misfortune and hardship so that they might humble themselves (before us).
kuma lalle mun aika zuwa ga al'ummai daga gabãninka, sai muka kãmã su da tsanani da cũta, tsammãninsu zã su ƙanƙan da kai,
