फिर मूसा की बात उसकी क़ौम की संतति में से बस कुछ ही लोगों ने मानी ; फ़िरऔन और उनके सरदारों के भय से कि कहीं उन्हें किसी फ़ितने में न डाल दें । फ़िरऔन था भी धरती में बहुत सिर उठाए हुए , औऱ निश्चय ही वह हद से आगे बढ़ गया था

then none believed in musa save a posterity of his people , through fear of fir ' awn and their chiefs , lest he should persecute them ; and verily fir ' awn was lofty in the land , and verily he was of the extravagant .
अलग़रज़ मूसा पर उनकी क़ौम की नस्ल के चन्द आदमियों के सिवा फिरऔन और उसके सरदारों के इस ख़ौफ से कि उन पर कोई मुसीबत डाल दे कोई ईमान न लाया और इसमें शक़ नहीं कि फिरऔनरुए ज़मीन में बहुत बढ़ा चढ़ा था और इसमें शक़ नहीं कि वह यक़ीनन ज्यादती करने वालों में से था

said pharaoh : " leave me to slay moses ; and let him call on his lord ! what i fear is lest he should change your religion , or lest he should cause mischief to appear in the land ! "
फ़िरऔन ने कहा , " मुझे छोड़ो , मैं मूसा को मार डालूँ और उसे चाहिए कि वह अपने रब को पुकारे । मुझे डर है कि ऐसा न हो कि वह तुम्हारे धर्म को बदल डाले या यह कि वह देश में बिगाड़ पैदा करे । "

if any of you cannot afford to marry a free believing woman let him marry one of his believing maids whom he possesses . god best knows your faith . you are one of another . so marry them with their owner ' s permission , and give them their dower according to what is fair , neither committing fornication nor taking secret paramours . and if , after they are married , they commit adultery they shall have half the punishment prescribed for a free woman . this is for those of you who fear lest he should fall into sin . but that it is better for you to practise self restraint . god is most forgiving and merciful .
और तुममें से जो शख्स आज़ाद इफ्फ़तदार औरतों से निकाह करने की माली हैसियत से क़ुदरत न रखता हो तो वह तुम्हारी उन मोमिना लौन्डियों से जो तुम्हारे कब्ज़े में हैं निकाह कर सकता है और ख़ुदा तुम्हारे ईमान से ख़ूब वाक़िफ़ है तुममें एक दूसरे का हमजिन्स है पस उनके मालिकों की इजाज़त से लौन्डियों से निकाह करो और उनका मेहर हुस्ने सुलूक से दे दो मगर उन्हीं से निकाह करो जो इफ्फ़त के साथ तुम्हारी पाबन्द रहें न तो खुले आम ज़िना करना चाहें और न चोरी छिपे से आशनाई फिर जब तुम्हारी पाबन्द हो चुकी उसके बाद कोई बदकारी करे तो जो सज़ा आज़ाद बीवियों को दी जाती है उसकी आधी लौन्डियों को दी जाएगी से निकाह कर भी सकता है तो वह शख्स जिसको ज़िना में मुब्तिला हो जाने का ख़ौफ़ हो और सब्र करे तो तुम्हारे हक़ में ज्यादा बेहतर है और ख़ुदा बख्शने वाला मेहरबान है
