who hath created and then proportioned,
かれは創造し，整え調和させる御方，

who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
耳のある者は聞くがよい」。

and who hath disposed and then guided,
またかれは，法を定めて導き，

who hath taught mankind by the pen -
筆によって（書くことを）教えられた御方。

and miserable is he who hath buried it.
それを汚す者は滅びる。

who hath created me, and he guideth me.
かれはわたしを創られた方で，わたしを導かれ，

surely blissful is he who hath cleansed, it,
本当にそれ（魂）を清める者は成功し，

by him who hath created the male and the female,
男女を創造された御方において（誓う）。

hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew?
雨に父があるか。露の玉はだれが生んだか。

and fear him who hath aided you with that which ye know.
あなたがたが知る程のものを，授けられる方を畏れなさい。

who hath fed them against hunger and hath made them safe from fear.
飢えに際しては，かれらに食物を与え，また恐れに際しては，それを除き心を安らかにして下さる御方に。

save him who hath created me, and then he would guide me.
わたしを御創りになり，わたしを必ず御導き下される方にだけ（仕えます。）」

they said: art thou the one who hath wrought this unto our gods, o ibrahim?
「イブラーヒームよ，あなたなのですか。わたしたちの神々に対しこのようなことをしたのは。」と一同は言った。

who hath gathered wealth (of this world) and arranged it.
財を集めて計算する（のに余念のない）者。

who hath fed them against hunger; and hath rendered them secure from fear.
飢えに際しては，かれらに食物を与え，また恐れに際しては，それを除き心を安らかにして下さる御方に。

verily my protector is allah who hath revealed the book, and he protecteth the righteous.
本当にアッラーはわたしの愛護者であり，啓典を啓示された方である。かれは正義の徒を愛護なされる。

they said: who hath wrought this to our gods? verily he is of the wrong-doers.
かれらは言った。「誰がわたしたちの神々をこうしたのでしょうか。本当にかれは不義な者です。」

keep your duty toward him who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know,
あなたがたが知る程のものを，授けられる方を畏れなさい。

who hath made everything exceeding good which he hath created. and he originated the creation of man from clay;
創造された一切を，最も善美なものになされ，泥から人間の創造を始められる。

i will bless the lord, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
わたしにさとしをさずけられる主をほめまつる。夜はまた、わたしの心がわたしを教える。
