and niggardly when good befalls him
އަދި އޭނާގައި ހެޔޮކަމެއް ބީހިއްޖެނަމަ (އެބަހީ: ތަނަވަސްކަމެއް ލިބިއްޖެނަމަ، އެއިން ހޭދަކުރުމުން) މަނާވެގަންނަ މީހެއްގެ ގޮތުގައެވެ.

and niggardly when good reaches him;-
އަދި އޭނާގައި ހެޔޮކަމެއް ބީހިއްޖެނަމަ (އެބަހީ: ތަނަވަސްކަމެއް ލިބިއްޖެނަމަ، އެއިން ހޭދަކުރުމުން) މަނާވެގަންނަ މީހެއްގެ ގޮތުގައެވެ.

he is not niggardly of the unseen.
އަދި غيب ގެ ކަންތައް ފޮރުވައި، ހިފަހައްޓަވާ ބޭކަލަކު ކަމުގައި އެކަލޭގެފާނު (އެބަހީ: محمد ގެފާނު) ނުވެއެވެ.

but when they are fortunate, they become niggardly
އަދި އޭނާގައި ހެޔޮކަމެއް ބީހިއްޖެނަމަ (އެބަހީ: ތަނަވަސްކަމެއް ލިބިއްޖެނަމަ، އެއިން ހޭދަކުރުމުން) މަނާވެގަންނަ މީހެއްގެ ގޮތުގައެވެ.

but for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth,
ފަހެ، ތިމަންރަސްކަލާނގެ ފަސޭހަކަން ހުރިމަގަށް އެމީހަކަށް މަގު ފަހިކޮށްދެއްވާ ހުށީމެވެ.

and whenever good fortune comes to him, he grows niggardly.
އަދި އޭނާގައި ހެޔޮކަމެއް ބީހިއްޖެނަމަ (އެބަހީ: ތަނަވަސްކަމެއް ލިބިއްޖެނަމަ، އެއިން ހޭދަކުރުމުން) މަނާވެގަންނަ މީހެއްގެ ގޮތުގައެވެ.

do not be niggardly, nor extravagant that you may later feel reprehensive and constrained.
ތިބާގެ ކަނދުރާއާއެކު ކަސްތަޅު އެޅިގެންވާ އެއްޗެއްކަމުގައި، ތިބާގެ އަތް ނުހަދާށެވެ! އަދި އެ އަތް މުޅިން ފަތުރައިވެސްނުލާށެވެ! ފަހެ، އޭރުން މަލާމާތްލިބި، ހިތާމަ ލިބިގެންވާ حال، ތިބާ އިންނަން ޖެހިދާނެއެވެ.

but when he bestowed his favours on them they grew niggardly, and turned away in aversion.
ފަހެ، އެކަލާނގެ فضل ވަންތަކަމުގެ ތެރެއިން، އެއުރެންނަށް ދެއްވިހިނދު، އެތަކެއްޗަށް އެއުރެން ދަހިވެތިވޫއެވެ. އަދި އެއުރެން ފުރަގަސްދޭ حال، އެނބުރި ދިޔައޫއެވެ.

and as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of allah),
ފަހެ، ތިމަންރަސްކަލާނގެ ފަސޭހަކަން ހުރިމަގަށް އެމީހަކަށް މަގު ފަހިކޮށްދެއްވާ ހުށީމެވެ.

but when his favors were bestowed on them, they became niggardly and in disregard broke their promise.
ފަހެ، އެކަލާނގެ فضل ވަންތަކަމުގެ ތެރެއިން، އެއުރެންނަށް ދެއްވިހިނދު، އެތަކެއްޗަށް އެއުރެން ދަހިވެތިވޫއެވެ. އަދި އެއުރެން ފުރަގަސްދޭ حال، އެނބުރި ދިޔައޫއެވެ.

but when he gave them out of his grace, they became niggardly of it and they turned back and they withdrew.
ފަހެ، އެކަލާނގެ فضل ވަންތަކަމުގެ ތެރެއިން، އެއުރެންނަށް ދެއްވިހިނދު، އެތަކެއްޗަށް އެއުރެން ދަހިވެތިވޫއެވެ. އަދި އެއުރެން ފުރަގަސްދޭ حال، އެނބުރި ދިޔައޫއެވެ.

if he asks you for them, and presses you, you are niggardly, and he brings to light your rancour.
ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ ކިބައިން އެކަލާނގެ އެތަކެއްޗަށް އެދިވޮޑިގަންނަވައި، އެކަމަށް ބާރުއަޅުއްވާނަމަ، ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ދަހިވެތިވާނޫއެވެ. އަދި އެކަލާނގެ ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ ރުޅިވެރިކަމާއި، حسد ވެރިކަން ފާޅުކުރައްވާނެތެވެ.

if he asks for all you possess and insist upon it, you will become niggardly, and it will bring out your malevolence.
ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ ކިބައިން އެކަލާނގެ އެތަކެއްޗަށް އެދިވޮޑިގަންނަވައި، އެކަމަށް ބާރުއަޅުއްވާނަމަ، ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ދަހިވެތިވާނޫއެވެ. އަދި އެކަލާނގެ ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ ރުޅިވެރިކަމާއި، حسد ވެރިކަން ފާޅުކުރައްވާނެތެވެ.

should he ask for your possessions you would be niggardly as it would be hard for you to give. thus, he would make your malice become public.
ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ ކިބައިން އެކަލާނގެ އެތަކެއްޗަށް އެދިވޮޑިގަންނަވައި، އެކަމަށް ބާރުއަޅުއްވާނަމަ، ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ދަހިވެތިވާނޫއެވެ. އަދި އެކަލާނގެ ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ ރުޅިވެރިކަމާއި، حسد ވެރިކަން ފާޅުކުރައްވާނެތެވެ.

then, when he gave them out of his bounty, they grew niggardly and turned their backs (upon their covenant).
ފަހެ، އެކަލާނގެ فضل ވަންތަކަމުގެ ތެރެއިން، އެއުރެންނަށް ދެއްވިހިނދު، އެތަކެއްޗަށް އެއުރެން ދަހިވެތިވޫއެވެ. އަދި އެއުރެން ފުރަގަސްދޭ حال، އެނބުރި ދިޔައޫއެވެ.

those who are niggardly and bid people to be niggardly and hide what allah has given them out of his grace; and we have prepared for the unbelievers a disgraceful chastisement.
އެއުރެންނީ، ދަހިވެތިވާ މީހުންނެވެ. އަދި، ދަހިވެތިވުމަށް މީސްތަކުންނަށް أمر ކުރާ މީހުންނެވެ. އަދި، اللَّه، އެކަލާނގެ فضل ވަންތަކަމުގެ ތެރެއިން އެބަޔަކަށް ދެއްވާފައިވާ ތަކެއްޗާއި ކަންތައް ވަންހަނާކުރާ މީހުންނެވެ. كافر ންނަށްޓަކައި، އިހާނަތްތެރި عذاب ތިމަންރަސްކަލާނގެ ތައްޔާރު ކުރެއްވީމެވެ.

so that you would not grieve over what you have lost nor become too happy about what god has granted to you. god does not love the arrogant boastful ones who are niggardly and who try to make other people also niggardly.
(އެއީ) ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ ކިބައިން ފާއިތުވެހިނގައްޖެ ކަމެއްގެ މައްޗަށް ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ހިތާމަ ނުކުޅައުމަށާއި، އަދި އެކަލާނގެ ތިޔަބައިމީހުންނަށް ދެއްވައިފިކަމެއްގެ މައްޗަށް އުފާކޮށް ބޮޑާވެ ނުގަތުމަށްޓަކައެވެ. ކިބުރުވެރިވެ، فخر ވެރިވާ އެއްވެސް މީހަކުދެކެ اللَّه ލޯބިވެވޮޑިގެނެއް ނުވެތެވެ.

behold! ye are those who are called to expend in the way of allah, then there are of you some who are niggardly. and whosoever is niggardly is niggardly only to himself.
އޭ މިތިބަމީހުންނޭވެ! ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ތިޔަތިބީއެވެ. اللَّه ގެ މަގުގައި ހޭދަކުރުމަށް ތިޔަބައިމީހުންނަށް ގޮވައިލައްވަތެވެ. އެހިނދު، ދަހިވެތިވާ މީހުން ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ ތެރެއިންވެއެވެ. އަދި، ދަހިވެތިވާ މީހާ (ދަންނާށެވެ!) ފަހެ، އޭނާ ދަހިވެތިވާކަން ކަށަވަރީ، އޭނާގެ އަމިއްލަ نفس ގެ ފަރާތުންނެވެ. اللَّه އީ، ފުދިވޮޑިގެންވާ ރަސްކަލާނގެއެވެ. އަދި فقير ންނަކީ ތިޔަބައިމީހުންނެވެ. އަދި ތިޔަބައިމީހުން އެނބުރި ފުރަގަސްދޭނަމަ، ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ ބަދަލުގައި ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ނޫންބަޔަކު، އެކަލާނގެ ގެންނަވާހުށްޓެވެ. ދެން، ތިޔަބައިމީހުންފަދަ ބަޔަކު ކަމުގައި އެއުރެން ނުވާނެތެވެ.

if he were to ask you for your possessions and press you (in that regard), you would have grown niggardly, and allah would have brought your failings to light.
ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ ކިބައިން އެކަލާނގެ އެތަކެއްޗަށް އެދިވޮޑިގަންނަވައި، އެކަމަށް ބާރުއަޅުއްވާނަމަ، ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ދަހިވެތިވާނޫއެވެ. އަދި އެކަލާނގެ ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ ރުޅިވެރިކަމާއި، حسد ވެރިކަން ފާޅުކުރައްވާނެތެވެ.

ha, there you are; you are called upon to expend in god's way, and some of you are niggardly. whoso is niggardly is niggardly only to his own soul.
އޭ މިތިބަމީހުންނޭވެ! ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ތިޔަތިބީއެވެ. اللَّه ގެ މަގުގައި ހޭދަކުރުމަށް ތިޔަބައިމީހުންނަށް ގޮވައިލައްވަތެވެ. އެހިނދު، ދަހިވެތިވާ މީހުން ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ ތެރެއިންވެއެވެ. އަދި، ދަހިވެތިވާ މީހާ (ދަންނާށެވެ!) ފަހެ، އޭނާ ދަހިވެތިވާކަން ކަށަވަރީ، އޭނާގެ އަމިއްލަ نفس ގެ ފަރާތުންނެވެ. اللَّه އީ، ފުދިވޮޑިގެންވާ ރަސްކަލާނގެއެވެ. އަދި فقير ންނަކީ ތިޔަބައިމީހުންނެވެ. އަދި ތިޔަބައިމީހުން އެނބުރި ފުރަގަސްދޭނަމަ، ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ ބަދަލުގައި ތިޔަބައިމީހުން ނޫންބަޔަކު، އެކަލާނގެ ގެންނަވާހުށްޓެވެ. ދެން، ތިޔަބައިމީހުންފަދަ ބަޔަކު ކަމުގައި އެއުރެން ނުވާނެތެވެ.
