then ye turned away, save a few of you, and ye are backsliders.
kisha mkageuka isipo kuwa wachache tu katika nyinyi; na nyinyi mnapuuza.

and those who disbelieve are from that whereof they are warned backsliders.
na walio kufuru wanayapuuza yale wanayo onywa.

and not a sign cometh unto them of the signs of their lord but that therefore they have been backsliders.
na haiwafikii hata ishara moja katika ishara za mola wao mlezi ila wao huwa wenye kuipa nyongo.

and not a sign cometh unto them of the signs of their lord, but they are ever backsliders therefrom.
na haiwafikii ishara yoyote katika ishara za mola wao mlezi ila wao huwa ni wenye kuipuuza.

and there cometh not unto them any fresh admonition from the compassionate but they are wont to be there from backsliders.
wala hauwafikii ukumbusho mpya kutoka kwa arrahman ila wao hujitenga nao.

hast thou not observed those vouchsafed a portion of the book called to the book of allah that it may judge between them? then a party of them turn away and they are backsliders
huwaoni wale walio pewa sehemu ya kitabu? wanaitwa kukiendea kitabu cha mwenyezi mungu ili kiwahukumu baina yao; kisha baadhi yao wanageuka wanakikataa.

and had allah known in them any good he would surely have made them hearken; and even if he made them hear, they would surely turn away as backsliders.
na mwenyezi mungu angeli jua wema wowote kwao ange wasikilizisha, na lau ange wasikilizisha wangeli geuka wakapuuza.

and (remember) when we took a covenant from the children of israel, (saying): worship none but allah (alone) and be dutiful and good to parents, and to kindred, and to orphans and al-masakin (the poor), [tafsir at-tabari, vol. 10, page 158 (verse 9:60)] and speak good to people [i.e. enjoin righteousness and forbid evil, and say the truth about muhammad peace be upon him], and perform as-salat (iqamat-as-salat), and give zakat. then you slid back, except a few of you, while you are backsliders. (tafsir al-qurtubi, vol. 2, page 392).
na tulipo funga agano na wana wa israili: hamtamuabudu yeyote ila mwenyezi mungu; na muwafanyie wema wazazi na jamaa na mayatima na masikini, na semeni na watu kwa wema, na shikeni sala, na toeni zaka. kisha mkageuka isipo kuwa wachache tu katika nyinyi; na nyinyi mnapuuza.
