so it was not allah who wronged them, but it was they who used to wrong themselves.
Худо ба онҳо зулм намекард, онон худ ба худашон зулм мекарданд.

as for the sabbath, it was imposed on those who had differed about it; and your lord will tell them on the day of resurrection what it was they had differed about.
Шанбе гирифтанро (бузург доштани шанберо) барои т; асоне, ки дар он ихтилоф карда буданд, фарз кардаанд ва Парвардигори ту дар рӯзи қиёмат дар бораи он чӣ ихтилоф мекарданд, ҳукм хоҳад кард!

and not a sign we shewed them but it was greater than the like thereof; and we laid hold of them with the torment that haply they might turn.
Ва ҳар мӯъҷизае, ки ба онҳо нишон додем, аз мӯъҷизаи дигар азимтар буд. Он гоҳ ҳамаро ба азоб гирифтор кардем, бошад, ки бозгарданд.

and we did not show them a sign but it was greater than its like, and we overtook them with chastisement that they may turn.
Ва ҳар мӯъҷизае, ки ба онҳо нишон додем, аз мӯъҷизаи дигар азимтар буд. Он гоҳ ҳамаро ба азоб гирифтор кардем, бошад, ки бозгарданд.

(on facing our torment) they cried out for help, but it was too late for them to escape.
Онон фарёд мебароварданд, вале гурезгоҳе набуд.

but you hid within yourself what god was to reveal. and you feared the people, but it was god you were supposed to fear.
Дар ҳоле ки дар дили худ он чиро Худо ошкор сохт, махфӣ дошта буди ва аз мардум метарсидӣ, ҳол он ки Худо аз ҳар каси дигар сазоворгар буд, ки аз ӯ битарсӣ.

as for those of you who turned back on the day the two hosts met, it was the satan who made them slip because of something they had earned; and of a surety allah hath pardoned them.
Аз миёни шумо онон, ки дар рӯзи муқобалаи он ду гурӯҳ, бигурехтанд, ба сабаби баъзе аз амалҳояшон шайтон онҳоро ба хато афканда буд.

and not a sign we showed them, but it was greater than its sister sign; and we seized them with chastisement, that haply they should return.
Ва ҳар мӯъҷизае, ки ба онҳо нишон додем, аз мӯъҷизаи дигар азимтар буд. Он гоҳ ҳамаро ба азоб гирифтор кардем, бошад, ки бозгарданд.

after the matter has been finally decided satan will say: "surely whatever allah promised you was true; as for me, i went back on the promise i made to you.
Чун кор ба поён ояд, шайтон гӯяд: «Худо ба шумо ваъда дод ва ваъдаи Ӯ дуруст буд ва ман низ ба шумо ваъда додам, вале ваъдаи худ хилоф кардам.

and it will claim all those who turned their backs [on the true faith] and turned away [from the truth],
ҳар киро, ки ба ҳақ пушт кард ва аз фармон сар печид, ба тарафи худ мехонад
