or else we should see our lord. "
Ё чаро Парвардигори худро намебинем?»

so that we should glorify thee much,
то Туро фаровон ситоиш кунем.

and then we should bestow upon them from our presence an immense reward,
Он гоҳ аз ҷониби Худ ба онон музде бузург медодем,

and we should then have given them from our presence a great reward;
Он гоҳ аз ҷониби Худ ба онон музде бузург медодем,

and we should have shown them the straight way.
ва ононро ба роҳи рост ҳидоят мекардем.

we should certainly seize him by his right hand,
бо қудрат ӯро фурӯ мегирифтем,

and if two factions among the believers should fight, then make settlement between the two.
Ва агар ду гурӯҳ аз мӯъминон бо якдигар ба чанг бархостанд, миёнашон оштӣ андозед.

and what reason have we that we should not rely on allah?
Чаро бар Худо таваккал накунем ва ҳол он ки Ӯ роҳи моро ба мо бинамуд?

and they say: if we were to follow the guidance with thee we should be torn out of our land.
Гуфтанд: «Агар аз дини ту пайравӣ кунем, моро аз сарзаминамон бармекананд».

they said: and what reason have we that we should not fight in the way of allah, and we have indeed been compelled to abandon our homes and our children.
Гуфтанд: «Чаро дар роҳи Худо наҷангем, дар ҳоле, ки мо аз сарзаминамон берун ронда шудаем ва аз фарзандонамон ҷудо афтодаем?»

and indeed we should then have bestowed upon them a great reward from ourselves.
Он гоҳ аз ҷониби Худ ба онон музде бузург медодем,

and thus [it was] that we should avert from him evil and immorality.
Чунин кардем, то бадиву зишткориро аз вай бозгардонем.

they said, "have you come to us that we should worship allah alone and leave what our fathers have worshipped?
Гуфтанд: «Оё назди мо омадаӣ, то танҳо Оллоҳро бипарастем ва он чиро, ки падаронамон мепарастиданд, раҳо кунем?

if the unbelievers should fight you, they would certainly turn their backs; then would they find neither protector nor helper.
Ва агар кофирон бо шумо ба ҷанг бархезанд, пушт гардонда бигрезанд ва дигар ҳеҷ дӯсту ёригаре намеёбанд.

"we should certainly have been servants of allah, sincere (and devoted)!"
мо аз бандагони мухлиси Худо мебудем».

they answered: "have you come to say to us that we should worship only one god, abandoning those our ancestors had worshipped?
Гуфтанд: «Оё назди мо омадаӣ, то танҳо Оллоҳро бипарастем ва он чиро, ки падаронамон мепарастиданд, раҳо кунем?

excepting those who join a people between whom and you there is a bond or who come to you with their breasts straitened that they should fight you or fight their own people.
Ғайри касоне, ки ба қавме, ки миёни шумо ва онҳо паимонест, мепайванданд ё худ назди шумо меоянд, дар ҳоле, ки аз ҷангидан бо шумо ё ҷангидан бо қавми худ малул шуда бошанд.

"no reason have we why we should not put our trust on allah. indeed he has guided us to the ways we (follow).
Чаро бар Худо таваккал накунем ва ҳол он ки Ӯ роҳи моро ба мо бинамуд?

and if we listed, surely we should transform them in their places, so that they would be able neither to go forward nor to return
Ва агар бихоҳем,, онҳоро бар ҷояшон масх (тағйир) кунем, ки на тавони он дошта бошанд, ки ба пеш қадам бардоранд ва на бозпас гарданд.

and the sorcerers came to pharaoh, saying, 'we shall surely have a wage, if we should be the victors?'
Ҷодугарон назди Фиръавн омаданду гуфтанд: «Агар ғалаба ёбем, моро мукофоте ҳает?»
