“you are a savant who only teaches the ekottarikāgama while
དེ་དག་གིས་སྨྲས་པ། རྒན་ཞུགས་ཁྱོད་ནི་རེ་ཞིག་རྫུབས་པས་གཅིག་ལས་འཕྲོས་པའི་ཆོས་སྟོན་གྱི།

you are not a convert to a tīrthika order, are you?
དེས་དེ་ལ་མུ་སྟེགས་ཅན་ཞུགས་པ་མ་ཡིན་ནམ་ཞེས་དྲི་བར་བྱའོ། །

you are not the owner, so you cannot change these permissions.
ཁྱོད་བདག་པོ་མ་རེད དེའི་རྐྱེན་པས་ཆོག་འཆན་འདི་དག་བཟོ་བཅོས་བྱེད་མི་ཐུབ

“son, if you are a male, how has a female vanquished you?
བུ་ཁྱོད་སྐྱེས་པ་ཡིན་ན་བུད་མེད་ཀྱིས་ཚར་བཅད་དམ།

noble one, you are an accepter of alms but we are seekers of merit,
འཕགས་པ་ཁྱོད་ནི་བསོད་སྙོམས་བཞེད་པ་ལགས་ལ། བདག་ཅག་ནི་བསོད་ནམས་འཚལ་བ་ལགས་ཀྱིས།

while you are bound by all bonds, i have been definitively freed from all bonds.
ཁྱེད་ནི་འཆིང་བ་མཐའ་དག་གིས་བཅིངས་པ་ལགས་ལ། བདག་ནི་འཆིང་བ་མཐའ་དག་ལས་ངེས་པར་གྲོལ་བ་ལགས་ན།

for most people also view things thus and say such things, and in that you are just like them.
སྐྱེ་བོ་ཕལ་པོ་ཆེ་ཡང་དེ་ལྟར་ལྟ་ཞིང་དེ་སྐད་སྨྲ་བས་ཁྱོད་ཀྱང་དེ་དང་འདྲ་བ་ཁོ་ནར་འགྱུར་རོ། །

steady as you are, this group is eager to hear the reason for your smile.”
བརྟན་པ་ཇི་སླད་འཛུམ་པ་སྟོན་མཛད་པ། །སྐྱེ་བོའི་ཚོགས་རྣམས་དེ་ནི་ཉན་པར་འཚལ། །

you are very young and have lived a life of leisure, and you do not know what it is to suffer.
ཁྱོད་ནི་ཤིན་ཏུ་གཞོན་པ་བདེ་བ་འདོད་པ་ཡིན་པས་ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་སྡུག་བསྔལ་མི་ཤེས་ཏེ།

“son, you are our only boy, beloved, handsome, patient, and agreeable to the eye.
བུ་ཁྱོད་ངེད་ཀྱི་བུ་གཅིག་པ་སྡུག་པ། ཡིད་དུ་འོང་བ། བཟོད་པ། མཐོང་ན་མི་མཐུན་པ་མེད་པ་ཡིན་པས་

if someone wishing to go forth approaches any of you, ask him, ‘you are not a servant, are you?’
འགའ་ཞིག་གི་གན་དུ་རབ་ཏུ་འབྱུང་བར་འདོད་པ་འོངས་ན་དེས་དེ་ལ་བྲན་མ་ཡིན་ནམ་ཞེས་དྲི་བར་བྱའོ། །

they replied, ‘yes, we know. you are but a novice who has gone forth for the perfectly awakened buddha kāśyapa.
དེ་དག་གིས་སྨྲས་པ། ཤེས་ཏེ། ཁྱོད་ནི་ཡང་དག་པར་རྫོགས་པའི་སངས་རྒྱས་འོད་སྲུང་གི་བསྟན་པ་ལ་རབ་ཏུ་བྱུང་བའི་དགེ་ཚུལ་ཡིན་ནོ། །
