soufli is located northeast of alexandroupolis approx 70km from the capital of the evros prefecture. it is built on the east side of the profiti ilias hill.
soufli si trova a nord-est, a circa 70 km da alexandroupolis dalla capitale della prefettura di evros. È costruita sul lato est della collina del profiti ilias.

the mountain of profiti elia, is less steep than that of kroukelos, and gradually, as it progresses towards the sea, it ends abruptly.
il monte di profitis ilias è meno ripido di quello di kroukelos e gradualmente, procedendo verso il mare finisce bruscamente.

another important agricultural village was "campo chiaro", at the centre of the island, nowadays known as eleousa. walking through a thick forest, you suddenly arrive in this small village, with the church of the mater dolorosa which is today the greek orthodox church. at its sides, you can still see the ruins of the sanatorium and the ruins of the italian school where the franciscan nuns used to work. deep in the island, on the hill known as profitis elias (prophet elijah) you can still find st. george’s chapel, today sadly in ruins.
un altro villaggio agricolo particolarmente significativo è quello di campo chiaro, oggi conosciuto con il nome di eleousa, paese situato al centro dell’isola. dopo essersi addentrati in un fitto bosco, all`improvviso si sbuca in questo piccolo villaggio, dove domina la chiesa dedicata alla madonna addolorata, oggi chiesa greco-ortodossa. ai lati è possibile vedere i resti del sanatorio e della scuola di epoca italiana, presso le quali le suore francescane prestavano servizio.
