1. introduction this book intends to serve as a tool for the preparation of numerical reasoning tests for competitions or selection procedures, especially those ones organised by the european personnel selection office (epso) - administrators (ad), assistants (ast), and calls for contract agents (cast), to get a job in the eu institutions. the book is a follow-up to our first guide on this subject, but can be used independently. however, we recommend the acquisition of the first book in order to revise and practise basic maths (percentage calculations, difference with percentage points, operating with fractions, etc. ), and also to know the best approach to this type of exercises that we will not repeat here, with the purpose of offering only fresh content to our readers. we will only present a brief review about basic mathematical properties, how to quickly obtain percentage changes, and a summary on our method to solve these tests. for this reason, we will devote all the effort in this book to show and analyse in detail a new series of sample exercises, carefully selected and very close to the ones that we usually find in the real exams. we will also cover some matters (like conversions and magnitudes) more deeply than in our first book, according to our readers' requests. again, after my experience in teaching, i consider that, instead of a large amount of exercises with a quite short explanation of each solution, as you can find in other handbooks and platforms (which are good to practise when you feel more confident), it is much more effective, to reach a full understanding for many candidates with difficulties in maths or to acquire 3
