il suo nome deriva dal paleoslavo dio svevid. verso il xiii secolo la chiesa di santa vida e stata costruita sulla vetta del monte, ma sfortunatamente oggi ci sono rimaste solo le rovine.
its name originated from the old slavic god svevid. around the 13th century, the church of st vid was built at the top of the mountain. unfortunately, today only the ruins remain.

la festa di santo stefano ("stipanja") inizia con la massa concelebrata in paleoslavo nel mattino, dopodiché segue il folclore in piazza e si conclude con la festa popolare di sera.
it is celebrated on the 3rd of august, on the celebration of finding the remains of st. stephen, the first christian martyr. stipanja (eng. st. stephen's day) starts with the old slavic concelebrated forenoon mass, continues with the afternoon folklore at the town square and in the evening it turns into a folk celebration.

e' stata costruita nel 1664 sui resti di una precedente, da cui provengono alcune iscrizioni glagolitiche del 1531 e 1535 e che si leggono sui registri della canonica dell'allora alfabeto paleoslavo anteriore e cirillico.
it was built in 1664 over the ruins of a previous church from which some glagolithic inscriptions from 1531 and 1535 have been preserved and which can be read on the canon registry of that period in the preceding paleoslavic alphabet and in cyrillic.

i preti, che un tempo appartenevano a questa chiesa erano glagoliti (sacerdoti cattolici che officiavano in paleoslavo = op.prev.) e avevano inoltre il ruolo di notai e quindi componevano agli abitanti i testamenti, i contratti ecc.
of lošinj from the tombstones. the priests who used to serve in this church were glagolitic monks. they also served as notaries and drew up testaments, contracts etc. for the local people.
