back-biting, gossiping,
(جو) طعنہ زَن، عیب جُو (ہے اور) لوگوں میں فساد انگیزی کے لئے چغل خوری کرتا پھرتا ہے،

reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold,
اس میں تختوں پر تکیہ لگائے ہوئے ہوں گے نہ وہاں دھوپ دیکھیں گے اور نہ سردی

reclining therein on couches, without facing any [scorching] sun, or [biting] cold.
اس میں تختوں پر تکیہ لگائے ہوئے ہوں گے نہ وہاں دھوپ دیکھیں گے اور نہ سردی

that which they spend in pursuit of the life of this world is like a biting frosty blast which smites the harvest of a people who have wronged themselves, and destroys it. god is not unjust to them; they are unjust to their own souls.
(یہ لوگ) جو مال (بھی) اس دنیا کی زندگی میں خرچ کرتے ہیں اس کی مثال اس ہوا جیسی ہے جس میں سخت پالا ہو (اور) وہ ایسی قوم کی کھیتی پر جا پڑے جو اپنی جانوں پر ظلم کرتی ہو اور وہ اسے تباہ کر دے، اور اللہ نے ان پر کوئی ظلم نہیں کیا بلکہ وہ خود اپنی جانوں پر ظلم کرتے ہیں،

has not the news reached you, of those before you, the people of nuh (noah), and 'ad, and thamud? and those after them? none knows them but allah. to them came their messengers with clear proofs, but they put their hands in their mouths (biting them from anger) and said: "verily, we disbelieve in that with which you have been sent, and we are really in grave doubt as to that to which you invite us (i.e. islamic monotheism)."
بھلا تم کو ان لوگوں (کے حالات) کی خبر نہیں پہنچی جو تم سے پہلے تھے (یعنی) نوح اور عاد اور ثمود کی قوم۔ اور جو ان کے بعد تھے۔ جن کا علم خدا کے سوا کسی کو نہیں (جب) ان کے پاس پیغمبر نشانیاں لے کر آئے تو انہوں نے اپنے ہاتھ ان کے مونہوں پر رکھ دیئے (کہ خاموش رہو) اور کہنے لگے کہ ہم تو تمہاری رسالت کو تسلیم نہیں کرتے اور جس چیز کی طرف تم ہمیں بلاتے ہو ہم اس سے قوی شک میں ہیں
