when the birth of a girl is announced to any of them , his face darkens and he is filled with gloom .
አንዳቸውም በሴት ልጅ በተበሰረ ጊዜ እርሱ የተቆጨ ኾኖ ፊቱ ጠቁሮ ይውላል ፡ ፡

when any of them is told about the birth of a female his face turns dark , and he is filled with suppressed anger ,
አንዳቸውም በሴት ልጅ በተበሰረ ጊዜ እርሱ የተቆጨ ኾኖ ፊቱ ጠቁሮ ይውላል ፡ ፡

and when the news of ( the birth of ) a female ( child ) is brought to any of them , his face becomes dark , and he is filled with inward grief !
አንዳቸውም በሴት ልጅ በተበሰረ ጊዜ እርሱ የተቆጨ ኾኖ ፊቱ ጠቁሮ ይውላል ፡ ፡

when news is brought to one of them of ( the birth of ) what he sets up as a likeness to ( allah ) most gracious , his face darkens , and he is filled with inward grief !
አንዳቸውም ለአልረሕማን ምሳሌ ባደረገው ነገር ( በሴት ልጅ ) በተበሰረ ጊዜ እርሱ በቁጭት የተመላ ኾኖ ፊቱ የጠቆረ ይኾናል ፡ ፡

when any of them is given the news of the very thing [ i.e. a female child ] which he himself has ascribed to the all merciful , his face darkens and he is filled with grief --
አንዳቸውም ለአልረሕማን ምሳሌ ባደረገው ነገር ( በሴት ልጅ ) በተበሰረ ጊዜ እርሱ በቁጭት የተመላ ኾኖ ፊቱ የጠቆረ ይኾናል ፡ ፡

and if one of them is informed of the news of ( the birth of ) that which he set forth as a parable to the most beneficent ( allah ) ( i.e. of a girl ) , his face becomes dark , gloomy , and he is filled with grief !
