i seek his protection against the evil of the invading darkness ,
« ከሌሊትም ክፋት ባጨለመ ጊዜ ፤

a protection against every rebel satan ;
አመጸኛም ከሆነ ሰይጣን ሁሉ መጠበቅን ጠበቅናት ፡ ፡

unshading against the blazing flame
አጠላይ ያልኾነ ከእሳቱም ላንቃ የማያድን ወደ ኾነው ( አዝግሙ ) ፡ ፡

say , " lord , i seek your protection against the strong temptations of the devils .
በልም « ጌታዬ ሆ ! ከሰይጣናት ጉትተጎታዎች በአንተ እጠበቃለሁ ፡ ፡

so that none may err against the scales ,
በሚዛን ( ስትመዝኑ ) እንዳትበድሉ ፡ ፡

against the evil of whatever he has created .
« ከፈጠረው ፍጡር ሁሉ ክፋት ፡ ፡

against the evil of the temptations of the satans ,
« ብቅ እልም ባይ ከኾነው ጎትጓች ( ሰይጣን ) ክፋት ፡ ፡

behold ! they sat over against the ( fire ) ,
እነርሱ በርሷ ( አፋፍ ) ላይ ተቀማጮች በኾኑ ጊዜ ፤ ( ተረገሙ ) ፡ ፡

neither shady nor of any avail against the flames .
አጠላይ ያልኾነ ከእሳቱም ላንቃ የማያድን ወደ ኾነው ( አዝግሙ ) ፡ ፡

and guard yourselves against the fire that is prepared for the disbelievers .
ያችንም ለከሓዲዎች የተደገሰችውን እሳት ተጠንቀቁ ፡ ፡

therefore guard against ( the punishment of ) allah and obey me
« አላህንም ፍሩ ታዘዙኝም ፡ ፡

and guard yourselves against the fire which has been prepared for the unbelievers .
ያችንም ለከሓዲዎች የተደገሰችውን እሳት ተጠንቀቁ ፡ ፡

can you save from the fire he whom against the word of punishment has been realized ?
በእርሱ ላይ የቅጣት ቃል የተረጋገጠችበትን ሰው ( ትመራዋለህን ? ) አንተ በእሳት ውስጥ ያለን ሰው ታድናለህን ?

but pharaoh rebelled against the messenger , whereupon we seized him with no gentle grip .
ፈርዖንም መልክተኛውን አመጸ ፤ ብርቱ መያዝንም ያዝነው ፡ ፡

[ but having ] no cool shade and availing not against the flame . "
አጠላይ ያልኾነ ከእሳቱም ላንቃ የማያድን ወደ ኾነው ( አዝግሙ ) ፡ ፡

" neither shading , nor of any use against the fierce flame of the fire . "
አጠላይ ያልኾነ ከእሳቱም ላንቃ የማያድን ወደ ኾነው ( አዝግሙ ) ፡ ፡

but when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against christ.
እንዲህም ወንድሞችን እየበደላችሁ ደካማም የሆነውን ሕሊናቸውን እያቆሰላችሁ ክርስቶስን ትበድላላችሁ።

and they witnessed what they were doing against the believers ( i.e. burning them ) .
እነርሱም በምእምናኖቹ በሚሠሩት ( ማሰቃየት ) ላይ መስካሪዎች ናቸው ፡ ፡

do they feel secure against the design of allah none can feel secure against the design of allah except the utter losers .
የአላህንም ማዘናጋት አይፈሩምን የአላህንም ማዘናጋት ከከሳሪዎች ሕዝቦች በስተቀር የሚተማመን የለም ፡ ፡

" grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest ( generations ) ;
በኋለኞቹም ሕዝቦች ውስጥ ለእኔ መልካም ዝናን አድርግልኝ ፡ ፡
