then they defied the command of their lord ; so the thunderbolt seized them as they looked on .
ከጌታቸው ትዕዛዝም ኮሩ ፡ ፡ እነርሱም እያዩ ጩኸት ያዘቻቸው ፡ ፡

but in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking ;
ከጌታቸው ትዕዛዝም ኮሩ ፡ ፡ እነርሱም እያዩ ጩኸት ያዘቻቸው ፡ ፡

but they disobeyed the command of their lord ; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt , and they could only gape ,
ከጌታቸው ትዕዛዝም ኮሩ ፡ ፡ እነርሱም እያዩ ጩኸት ያዘቻቸው ፡ ፡

but they rebelled against their lord 's decree , and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed ;
ከጌታቸው ትዕዛዝም ኮሩ ፡ ፡ እነርሱም እያዩ ጩኸት ያዘቻቸው ፡ ፡

then maybe my lord will give me what is better than your garden , and send on it a thunderbolt from heaven so that it shall become even ground without plant ,
« ጌታዬ ከአትክልትህ የበለጠን ሊሰጠኝ በርሷም ( በአትክልትህ ) ላይ ከሰማይ መብረቆችን ሊልክባትና የምታንዳልጥ ምልጥ ምድር ልትኾን ይቻላል ፡ ፡

and as for thamud , we guided them , but they preferred blindness over guidance , so the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn .
ሰሙዶችማ መራናቸው ዕውርነትንም በቅንነት ላይ መረጡ ፡ ፡ ይሠሩትም በነበሩት ኃጢኣት አሳናሽ የኾነችው የመብረቅ ቅጣት ያዘቻቸው ፡ ፡

as for thamood , we guided them , but they preferred blindness above guidance , so the thunderbolt of the chastisement of humiliation seized them for that they were earning .
ሰሙዶችማ መራናቸው ዕውርነትንም በቅንነት ላይ መረጡ ፡ ፡ ይሠሩትም በነበሩት ኃጢኣት አሳናሽ የኾነችው የመብረቅ ቅጣት ያዘቻቸው ፡ ፡

ሰሙዶችማ መራናቸው ዕውርነትንም በቅንነት ላይ መረጡ ፡ ፡ ይሠሩትም በነበሩት ኃጢኣት አሳናሽ የኾነችው የመብረቅ ቅጣት ያዘቻቸው ፡ ፡

and when you said , ' moses , we will not believe thee till we see god openly ' ; and the thunderbolt took you while you were beholding .
« ሙሳ ሆይ ! አላህን በግልጽ እስከምናይ ድረስ ላንተ በፍጹም አናምንልህም » በላችሁም ጊዜ ( አስታውሱ ) ፡ ፡ እናንተም እየተመለከታችሁ መብረቅ ያዘቻችሁ ፡ ፡

and recall what time ye said : o musa ! we will not believe in thee until we see god openly ; then a thunderbolt took hold of you while ye looked on .
« ሙሳ ሆይ ! አላህን በግልጽ እስከምናይ ድረስ ላንተ በፍጹም አናምንልህም » በላችሁም ጊዜ ( አስታውሱ ) ፡ ፡ እናንተም እየተመለከታችሁ መብረቅ ያዘቻችሁ ፡ ፡

and recall that you said , “ o moses , we will not believe in you unless we see god plainly . ” thereupon the thunderbolt struck you , as you looked on .
« ሙሳ ሆይ ! አላህን በግልጽ እስከምናይ ድረስ ላንተ በፍጹም አናምንልህም » በላችሁም ጊዜ ( አስታውሱ ) ፡ ፡ እናንተም እየተመለከታችሁ መብረቅ ያዘቻችሁ ፡ ፡

and regarding the thamud , we showed them the right path – so they chose to be blind above being guided , therefore the thunderbolt of the disgraceful punishment overcame them – the recompense of their deeds .
ሰሙዶችማ መራናቸው ዕውርነትንም በቅንነት ላይ መረጡ ፡ ፡ ይሠሩትም በነበሩት ኃጢኣት አሳናሽ የኾነችው የመብረቅ ቅጣት ያዘቻቸው ፡ ፡

" it may be that my lord will give me something better than thy garden , and that he will send on thy garden thunderbolts ( by way of reckoning ) from heaven , making it ( but ) slippery sand ! -
« ጌታዬ ከአትክልትህ የበለጠን ሊሰጠኝ በርሷም ( በአትክልትህ ) ላይ ከሰማይ መብረቆችን ሊልክባትና የምታንዳልጥ ምልጥ ምድር ልትኾን ይቻላል ፡ ፡
