how many towns we have destroyed when they had been wrongdoers ! so they lie fallen on their trellises , their wells neglected and their ruined palaces !
कितनी ही बस्तियाँ है जिन्हें हमने विनष्ट कर दिया इस दशा में कि वे ज़ालिम थी , तो वे अपनी छतों के बल गिरी पड़ी है । और कितने ही परित्यक्त कुएँ पड़े है और कितने ही पक्के महल भी !

और अहले किताब कुछ ऐसे भी हैं कि अगर उनके पास रूपए की ढेर अमानत रख दो तो भी उसे (जब चाहो) वैसे ही तुम्हारे हवाले कर देंगे और बाज़ ऐसे हें कि अगर एक अशर्फ़ी भी अमानत रखो तो जब तक तुम बराबर (उनके सर) पर खड़े न रहोगे तुम्हें वापस न देंगे ये (बदमुआम लगी) इस वजह से है कि उन का तो ये क़ौल है कि (अरब के) जाहिलो (का हक़ मार लेने) में हम पर कोई इल्ज़ाम की राह ही नहीं और जान बूझ कर खुदा पर झूठ (तूफ़ान) जोड़ते हैं
