ฝ่ายเปโตรระลึกขึ้นได้จึงทูลพระองค์ว่า "พระอาจารย์เจ้าข้า ดูเถิด ต้นมะเดื่อที่พระองค์ได้สาปไว้นั้นก็เหี่ยวแห้งไปแล้ว

ต่อมาในวันสะบาโตอีกวันหนึ่ง พระองค์เสด็จเข้าไปในธรรมศาลาและสั่งสอน ที่นั่นมีชายคนหนึ่งมือขวาลี

and say, “the truth has come, and falsehood has withered away; for falsehood is bound to wither away.”
และจงกล่าวเถิด “เมื่อความจริง” ปรากฏขึ้นและความเท็จย่อมมลายไป แท้จริงความเท็จนั้นย่อมมลายไปเสมอ”

ดูเถิด มีชายคนหนึ่งมือข้างหนึ่งลีบ คนทั้งหลายถามพระองค์ว่า "การรักษาโรคในวันสะบาโตนั้นพระราชบัญญัติห้ามไว้หรือไม่" เพื่อเขาจะหาเหตุฟ้องพระองค์ได

and when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. and presently the fig tree withered away.
และเมื่อพระองค์ทรงทอดพระเนตรเห็นต้นมะเดื่อต้นหนึ่งอยู่ริมทาง พระองค์ก็ทรงดำเนินเข้าไปใกล้ เห็นต้นมะเดื่อนั้นไม่มีผลมีแต่ใบเท่านั้น จึงตรัสกับต้นมะเดื่อนั้นว่า "เจ้าจงอย่ามีผลอีกต่อไป" ทันใดนั้นต้นมะเดื่อก็เหี่ยวแห้งไ

"o joseph!" (he said) "o man of truth! expound to us (the dream) of seven fat kine whom seven lean ones devour, and of seven green ears of corn and (seven) others withered: that i may return to the people, and that they may understand."
“ยูซุฟผู้ซื่อสัตย์เอ๋ย! จงอธิบายแก่เราเรื่องวัวตัวเมียอ้วนเจ็ดตัวถูกวัวตัวผอมเจ็ดตัวกินมัน และรวงข้าวเจ็ดรวงถูกรวงข้าวแห้งเจ็ดรวงรัดกินมัน หวังว่าฉันจะกลับไปหามวลชน เพื่อพวกเขาจะได้รู้เรื่อง”
