implications for practice sociocultural perspectives on science education, as they are articulated here, expand the ways in which science educators, including teachers, students, school leaders, policymakers, curriculum developers, evaluators, teacher educators, and researchers regard science education – especially teaching, learning, and learning to teach. the frameworks i have presented highlight the importance of continuously doing research on the enactment of science education, taking steps to ensure that all participants learn and change as a result of being involved in research. improvements should occur for all individuals involved in the research and identified equity problem should be resolved. furthermore, changes at the individual level should also be apparent at collective levels, including institutions. the frameworks i have presented in this paper provide new windows into science education, expanding possibilities for improving valued outcomes and changing the directions of science education so as to address the pressing problems of humanity coexisting harmoniously in a fragile universe. cultural studies of science education, as a vehicle for dissemination of research, can provide leadership by publishing studies designed to produce new theory while changing practices for individuals and collectives. consistent with the tenets i have outlined in this paper, such research would be multi-voiced and incorporate multiple meanings associated with participants from different stakeholder groups.
