he replied : ' i saw what they did not see and seized a handful of dust from the foot print of the messenger and so i cast it this my soul prompted me to do '
ያላዩትን ነገር አየሁ ፡ ፡ ከመልክተኛው ( ከፈረሱ ኮቴ ) ዱካም ጭብጥ አፈርን ዘገንኩ ፡ ፡ ( በቅርጹ ላይ ) ጣልኳትም ፡ ፡ እንደዚሁም ነፍሴ ሸለመችልኝ » አለ ፡ ፡

so eat and drink and refresh the eye . then if you see any mortal , say : surely i have vowed a fast to the beneficent allah , so i shall not speak to any man today .
« ብይም ፣ ጠጭም ፣ ተደሰችም ፡ ፡ እኔ ለአልረሕማን ዝምታን ተስያለሁ ፤ ዛሬም ሰውን በፍጹም አላነጋግርም » በይ ፡ ፡

he answered : " i saw what the people did not see . so i took a handful of dust from the trail of the messenger , and i flung it ( into the fire ) .
ያላዩትን ነገር አየሁ ፡ ፡ ከመልክተኛው ( ከፈረሱ ኮቴ ) ዱካም ጭብጥ አፈርን ዘገንኩ ፡ ፡ ( በቅርጹ ላይ ) ጣልኳትም ፡ ፡ እንደዚሁም ነፍሴ ሸለመችልኝ » አለ ፡ ፡

and i saw the seven angels which stood before god; and to them were given seven trumpets.
በእግዚአብሔርም ፊት የሚቆሙትን ሰባቱን መላእክት አየሁ፥ ሰባትም መለከት ተሰጣቸው።

when he saw the fire , he said to his family , " wait here for i can see a fire . perhaps i shall bring you a burning torch or find a way to some fire " .
እሳትን ባየና ለቤተሰቦቹ ፡ - ( እዚህ ) « ቆዩ ፤ እኔ እሳትን አየሁ ፡ ፡ ከእርሷ ችቦን ላመጣላችሁ ፤ ወይም እሳቲቱ ዘንድ መሪን ላገኝ እከጅላለሁ » ባለጊዜ ( አስታውስ ) ፡ ፡

so eat and drink thou , and cool thine eyes ; and if thou beholdest the human beings anyone , say : verily i have vowed to the compassionate a fast , so i shall not speak today to any human being .
« ብይም ፣ ጠጭም ፣ ተደሰችም ፡ ፡ እኔ ለአልረሕማን ዝምታን ተስያለሁ ፤ ዛሬም ሰውን በፍጹም አላነጋግርም » በይ ፡ ፡

he said , “ i saw what they did not see , so i grasped a handful from the messenger s traces ’ , and i flung it away . thus my soul prompted me . ”
ያላዩትን ነገር አየሁ ፡ ፡ ከመልክተኛው ( ከፈረሱ ኮቴ ) ዱካም ጭብጥ አፈርን ዘገንኩ ፡ ፡ ( በቅርጹ ላይ ) ጣልኳትም ፡ ፡ እንደዚሁም ነፍሴ ሸለመችልኝ » አለ ፡ ፡

so eat and drink and cool your eyes ; and if you see any person say to him : ' verily i have vowed a fast to the most compassionate lord , and so i shall not speak to anyone today . ' "
« ብይም ፣ ጠጭም ፣ ተደሰችም ፡ ፡ እኔ ለአልረሕማን ዝምታን ተስያለሁ ፤ ዛሬም ሰውን በፍጹም አላነጋግርም » በይ ፡ ፡

he said , " i saw what they did not see , so i took a handful [ of dust ] from the track of the messenger and threw it , and thus did my soul entice me . "
ያላዩትን ነገር አየሁ ፡ ፡ ከመልክተኛው ( ከፈረሱ ኮቴ ) ዱካም ጭብጥ አፈርን ዘገንኩ ፡ ፡ ( በቅርጹ ላይ ) ጣልኳትም ፡ ፡ እንደዚሁም ነፍሴ ሸለመችልኝ » አለ ፡ ፡

when abraham saw the rising moon , he said , " this is my lord . " but when it faded away , he said , " if my lord does not guide me i shall certainly go astray . "
ጨረቃንም ወጪ ኾኖ ባየ ጊዜ ፡ - « ይህ ጌታዬ ነው » አለ ፡ ፡ በገባም ጊዜ ፡ - « ጌታዬ ( ቅኑን መንገድ ) ባይመራኝ በእርግጥ ከተሳሳቱት ሕዝቦች እኾናለሁ » አለ ፡ ፡

" so eat and drink and be glad , and if you see any human being , say : ' verily ! i have vowed a fast unto the most beneficent ( allah ) so i shall not speak to any human being this day . ”
« ብይም ፣ ጠጭም ፣ ተደሰችም ፡ ፡ እኔ ለአልረሕማን ዝምታን ተስያለሁ ፤ ዛሬም ሰውን በፍጹም አላነጋግርም » በይ ፡ ፡

he said : i saw ( jibreel ) what they did not see , so i took a handful ( of the dust ) from the footsteps of the messenger , then i threw it in the casting ; thus did my soul commend to me
ያላዩትን ነገር አየሁ ፡ ፡ ከመልክተኛው ( ከፈረሱ ኮቴ ) ዱካም ጭብጥ አፈርን ዘገንኩ ፡ ፡ ( በቅርጹ ላይ ) ጣልኳትም ፡ ፡ እንደዚሁም ነፍሴ ሸለመችልኝ » አለ ፡ ፡

when he saw the moon rising up , he said : " this is my lord . " but when it set , he said : " unless my lord guides me , i shall surely be among the erring people . "
ጨረቃንም ወጪ ኾኖ ባየ ጊዜ ፡ - « ይህ ጌታዬ ነው » አለ ፡ ፡ በገባም ጊዜ ፡ - « ጌታዬ ( ቅኑን መንገድ ) ባይመራኝ በእርግጥ ከተሳሳቱት ሕዝቦች እኾናለሁ » አለ ፡ ፡

the eldest said , " do you not know that your father took from you a pledge in god 's name . you have already failed with regard to joseph , so i shall never leave the land until my father permits me to , or god decides [ things ] for me .
ከርሱም ተስፋን በቆረጡ ጊዜ የሚመካከሩ ሆነው ገለል አሉ ፡ ፡ ታላቃቸው አለ « አባታቸሁ በናንተ ላይ ከአላህ የሆነን መታመኛ ኪዳን በእርግጥ የያዘባችሁ መሆኑን ከዚህም በፊት በዩሱፍ ላይ ግፍ የሠራችሁትን አታውቁምን ስለዚህ አባቴ ለእኔ እስከሚፈቅድልኝ ወይም አላህ ለኔ እስከሚፈርድልኝ ድረስ የምስርን ምድር አልለይም ፡ ፡ እርሱም ከፈራጆች ሁሉ በላጭ ነው ፡ ፡

( samiri ) said : " i saw what they saw not , so i took a handful ( of dust ) from the hoof print of the messenger [ jibrael 's ( gabriel ) horse ] and threw it [ into the fire in which were put the ornaments of the fir 'aun 's ( pharaoh ) people , or into the calf ] . thus my inner-self suggested to me . "
