they used to say :
እነርሱም ( ከሓዲዎቹ ) በእርግጥ ይሉ ነበሩ ፡ -

ይሠሩት ከነበሩት ነገር ሁሉ ፡ ፡

they indeed , used to say ,
እነርሱም ( ከሓዲዎቹ ) በእርግጥ ይሉ ነበሩ ፡ -

about what they used to do .
ይሠሩት ከነበሩት ነገር ሁሉ ፡ ፡

and indeed they used to say :
እነርሱም ( ከሓዲዎቹ ) በእርግጥ ይሉ ነበሩ ፡ -

" go to what you used to deny ;
« ወደዚያ በእርሱ ታስተባብሉ ወደ ነበራችሁት ( ቅጣት ) አዝግሙ ፡ ፡

this is what you used to doubt .
« ይህ ያ በእርሱ ትጠራጠሩበት የነበራችሁት ነው » ( ይባላሉ ) ፡ ፡

and used to seek forgiveness before dawn .
በሌሊቱ መጨረሻዎችም እነርሱ ምሕረትን ይለምናሉ ፡ ፡

and we used to deny the day of recompense
« በፍርዱ ቀንም እናስተባብል ነበርን ፡ ፡

this is the fire which you used to deny .
ይህቺ ያቺ በእርሷ ታስተባብሉባት የነበራችሁት እሳት ናት ፡ ፡

indeed , he did not used to believe in allah , the most great ,
እርሱ ታላቅ በኾነው አላህ አያምንም ነበርና ፡ ፡

and they used to persist in immense wrongdoing .
በታላቅ ኀጢአትም ላይ ይዘወትሩ ነበሩና ፡ ፡

" and we used to belie the day of recompense
« በፍርዱ ቀንም እናስተባብል ነበርን ፡ ፡

and they used to persist in the great violation ,
በታላቅ ኀጢአትም ላይ ይዘወትሩ ነበሩና ፡ ፡

" but we used to talk vanities with vain talkers ;
« ከዘባራቂዎቹም ጋር እንዘባርቅ ነበርን ፡ ፡

indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers .
እነዚያ ያምመጹት በእነዚያ ባመኑት በእርግጥ ይስቁ ነበሩ ፡ ፡

enter it today , because of what you used to deny .
ትክዱ በነበራችሁት ምክንያት ዛሬ ግቧት ( ይባላሉ ) ፡ ፡

so nothing availed them [ from ] what they used to earn .
ይሠሩትም የነበሩት ሕንጻ ምንም አልጠቀማቸውም ፡ ፡

" nor we used to feed al-miskin ( the poor ) ;
« ለድኾችም የምናበላ አልነበርንም ፡ ፡

they used to carve homes in the mountains , feeling secure .
ከኮረብታዎችም ቤቶችን ጸጥተኞች ኾነው ይጠርቡ ነበር ፡ ፡
