እነሱም የማይሠሩትን ነገር የሚናገሩ መኾናቸውን ( አታይምን ) ፤

would they hasten on our doom ?
በቅጣታችንም ያቻኩላሉን ?

and that they say what they do not do .
እነሱም የማይሠሩትን ነገር የሚናገሩ መኾናቸውን ( አታይምን ) ፤

and how they say what they do not do ?
እነሱም የማይሠሩትን ነገር የሚናገሩ መኾናቸውን ( አታይምን ) ፤

little of the night would they slumber ,
ከሌሊቱ ጥቂትን ብቻ ይተኙ ነበሩ ፡ ፡

and he said unto them, what would ye that i should do for you?
እርሱም። ምን ላደርግላችሁ ትወዳላችሁ? አላቸው።

he said , “ what do i know about what they do ?
( እርሱም ) አላቸው « ይሠሩት በነበሩት ነገር ምን ዕውቀት አለኝ ፡ ፡

my lord ! save me and my household from what they do .
« ጌታዬ ሆይ ! እኔንም ቤተሰቦቼንም ከሚሠሩት ሥራ ( ቅጣት ) አድነን ፡ ፡ »

father forgive them for they don’t know what they do
pater dimitte illis

and what would make you realize what the sure calamity is !
አረጋጋጪቱም ምን እንደኾነች ምን አሳወቀህ ?

and what would make you know that he would purify himself ,
ምን ያሳውቅሃል ? ( ከኀጢአቶቹ ) ሊጥራራ ይከጀላል ፡ ፡

my mother asked what would happened if the war started?
እናቴ ጦርነቱ ቢጀመር ምን ሊከሰት እንደሚችል ትጠይቀኛለች?

‘ my lord ! deliver me and my family from what they do . ’
« ጌታዬ ሆይ ! እኔንም ቤተሰቦቼንም ከሚሠሩት ሥራ ( ቅጣት ) አድነን ፡ ፡ »

fain would they that thou shouldst be pliant , so that they will be pliant .
ብትመሳሰላቸውና ቢመሳሰሉህ ተመኙ ፡ ፡

it would neither suit them nor would they be able ( to produce it ) .
ለእነርሱም አይገባቸውም ፤ አይችሉምም ፡ ፡

( would they do that ! ) even though their fathers did not understand anything nor were they guided ?
ለእነርሱም « አላህ ያወረደውን ተከተሉ » በተባሉ ጊዜ « አይደለም አባቶቻችንን በርሱ ላይ ያገኘንበትን ነገር እንከተላለን » ይላሉ ፡ ፡ አባቶቻቸው ምንም የማያውቁና ( ወደ እውነት ) የማይመሩም ቢኾኑ ( ይከተሉዋቸዋልን ? )

not one township that we destroyed before them believed . would they , then , believe ?
ከእነሱ በፊት ያጠፋናት ከተማ አላመነችም ፡ ፡ ታዲያ እነሱ ያምናሉን

would they but go straight on the way , we would give them to drink of water copious ,
እነሆም በመንገዲቱ ላይ ቀጥ ባሉ ኖሮ ብዙ ዝናምን ባጠጣናቸው ነበር ( ማለትም ተወረደልኝ ) ፡ ፡
