truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad!
lalle mũ a lõkacin, haƙĩƙa mun shiga wata ɓata da haukã.

should we treat the true believers and the wrongdoers alike?
shin ko zã mu sanya waɗanda ke bi da ɗa'a kamar mãsu laifi?

and said: "should we follow only one man among us?
sai suka ce: "wani mutum daga cikinmu, shi kaɗai, wai mu bĩ shi!

we cry unto no allah beside him, for then should we utter an enormity.
(idan mun yi haka) lalle ne, haƙĩƙa, mun faɗi abin da ya ƙẽtare haddi a sa'an nan."

how should we not put our trust in allah when he hath shown us our ways?
"kuma mẽne ne a gare mu, bã zã mu dõgara ga allah ba, alhãli kuwa haƙĩƙa yã shiryar da mu ga hanyõyinmu?

and said: "should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?"
kuma sunã cẽwa, "shin, mũ lalle mãsu barin gumãkanmu ne, sabõda maganar wani mawãƙi mahaukaci?

and said, "should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet".
kuma sunã cẽwa, "shin, mũ lalle mãsu barin gumãkanmu ne, sabõda maganar wani mawãƙi mahaukaci?

and why should we not put our trust in god when he has already guided us to our paths?
"kuma mẽne ne a gare mu, bã zã mu dõgara ga allah ba, alhãli kuwa haƙĩƙa yã shiryar da mu ga hanyõyinmu?

"and why should we not put our trust in allah while he indeed has guided us our ways.
"kuma mẽne ne a gare mu, bã zã mu dõgara ga allah ba, alhãli kuwa haƙĩƙa yã shiryar da mu ga hanyõyinmu?

and why should we not put our trust in allah, when he has already guided us to our paths?
"kuma mẽne ne a gare mu, bã zã mu dõgara ga allah ba, alhãli kuwa haƙĩƙa yã shiryar da mu ga hanyõyinmu?

and said: "should we believe in two men like yourselves, whose people are our subjects?"
sai suka ce: "shin, zã mu yi ĩmãni sabõda wasu mutãne biyu misãlinmu, alhãli kuwa mutãnensu a gare mu, mãsu bauta ne."

and why should we not put our trust in allah when it is indeed he who has guided us to the ways of our life?
"kuma mẽne ne a gare mu, bã zã mu dõgara ga allah ba, alhãli kuwa haƙĩƙa yã shiryar da mu ga hanyõyinmu?

they said, "should we believe in two mere mortals who are like ourselves and whose people are our slaves?"
sai suka ce: "shin, zã mu yi ĩmãni sabõda wasu mutãne biyu misãlinmu, alhãli kuwa mutãnensu a gare mu, mãsu bauta ne."

should we so wish, we can drown them, and there will be none to heed their cries of distress, nor will they be rescued.
kuma idan mun so, zã mu nutsar da su, har bãbu kururuwar neman ãgaji, a gare su, kuma ba su zama anã tsirar da su ba.

they said: why should we not fight in allah's way when we have been driven from our dwellings with our children?
suka ce: "kuma mẽne ne a gare mu, ba zã mu yi yãƙi ba, a cikin hanyar allah, alhãli kuwa, haƙiƙa, an fitar da mu daga gidãjenmu da ɗiyanmu?"

and why should we not believe in allah and the truth which has come down to us when we do fervently desire that our lord include us among the righteous?'
"kuma mene ne yake gare mu, bã zã mu yi ĩmãni daallah ba, da kuma abin da ya zo mana daga gaskiya, kuma munã gurin ubangijinmu ya shigar da mu tãre da mutãne sãlihai?"

why should we not believe in god and in the truth that has come down to us? we yearn for our lord to admit us among the righteous."
"kuma mene ne yake gare mu, bã zã mu yi ĩmãni daallah ba, da kuma abin da ya zo mana daga gaskiya, kuma munã gurin ubangijinmu ya shigar da mu tãre da mutãne sãlihai?"

and why should we not believe in god and what has come down to us of the truth? and we hope to be admitted by our lord among those who are upright and do good?"
"kuma mene ne yake gare mu, bã zã mu yi ĩmãni daallah ba, da kuma abin da ya zo mana daga gaskiya, kuma munã gurin ubangijinmu ya shigar da mu tãre da mutãne sãlihai?"
