(instead of this,) they began to follow that (magic) to which the devils falsely attributed (the greatness of) the kingdom of solomon. in fact solomon was never involved in any practice of disbelief, but the satans, who taught magic to the people were themselves guilty of disbelief. they were after that thing which was sent to harut and marut, the two angels at babylon. whenever these two angels taught black art to anyone, they would always give a clear warning beforehand, saying, "we are merely a trial for you; so you should not commit blasphemy. but in spite of this warning, those people used to learn from the angels the art which caused division between husband and wife. although it was obvious that they could not do any harm to anyone by means of this magic without allah's permission, yet they learnt that art which could not be profitable even for them but was actually harmful. moreover, they knew it full well that anyone, who purchased that art, would have no share in the hereafter. what a vile commodity it was for which they sold off their souls, if they had but known it!
جا جووه‌كان (وازیان له كتێبی خوا ـ ته‌ورات ـ هێناو) شوێنی ئه‌وه كه‌وتن، كه شه‌یتانه‌كان ده‌یانخوێنده‌وه ده‌رباره‌ی ده‌سه‌ڵات و حكومه‌تی سوله‌یمان، (ئاشكرایه كه‌) هه‌رگیز سوله‌یمان كافر نه‌بووه‌، به‌ڵكو شه‌یتانه‌كان كافربوون و خه‌ڵكیان فێری سیحرو جادوو ده‌كرد، هه‌روه‌ها مه‌ردومیان فێری ئه‌وه ده‌كرد كه بۆ هاروت و ماروت دابه‌زی بوو (كه دوو فریشته بوون) له بابل (مه‌به‌ستیشیان تێگه‌یاندنی خه‌ڵكی بوو له سیحرو جادوو). ئه‌وانیش كه‌سیان فێری هیچ شتێك نه‌ده‌كرد تا پێیان نه‌وتایه‌: ئه‌م كاره‌ی ئێمه بۆ تاقی كردنه‌وه‌یه‌و خۆت كافر مه‌كه (كه‌چی هه‌ندێك هه‌ر كۆڵیان نه‌داو) له‌و فریشتانه‌وه شتی وافێر ده‌بوون كه ژن و مێردی پێ له یه‌ك جوودا بكه‌ن، (هه‌ر چه‌نده‌) ئه‌و جادووگه‌رانه ناتوانن هیچ زیانێك به كه‌س بگه‌یه‌نن، مه‌گه‌ر ویستی خوای له‌سه‌ر بێت، ئه‌و خه‌ڵكه سه‌رگه‌ردانه هه‌میشه فێری شتێك ده‌بن كه زیانیان لێده‌داو سوودی نیه بۆیان، بێگومان ده‌شزانن ئه‌وه‌ی كاڵای وای كڕی بێت و شتی وافێر ببێت له‌و دونیا هیچ به‌هره‌یه‌كی ده‌ست ناكه‌وێت، (به‌ڕاستی) ئه‌و شته‌ی ئه‌وان خۆیان پێ فرۆشتووه و كه‌وتونه‌ته داوییه‌وه شتێكی زۆر ناپه‌سه‌نده ئه‌گه‌ر بزانن و تێبگه‌ن (چونكه سیحرو جادوو چه‌واشه كاریه و كارێكی نادروسته‌).
