they said, 'alas for us! we have been evildoers.'
އެއުރެން ބުނޫއެވެ. އޭ ތިމަންމެންނަށް ހުރި ހަލާކެއްގެ ބޮޑުކަމާއެވެ! ހަމަކަށަވަރުން، ތިމަންމެންވީ އަނިޔާވެރިން ކަމުގައެވެ.

alas for men! no apostle ever came to them but they made fun of him.

alas for human beings! they ridicule every messenger that comes to them.
އަޅުތަކުންގެ މައްޗަށްހުރި ހިތާމައެއްގެ ބޮޑުކަމާއެވެ! އެބޭކަލަކަށް އެއުރެން ފުރައްސާރަކުރާގޮތުގައި މެނުވީ، އެއުރެންގެ ގާތަށް އެއްވެސް رسول އަކު ވަޑައެއްނުގަންނަވަތެވެ.

alas for the servants! there comes not to them an apostle but they mock at him.
އަޅުތަކުންގެ މައްޗަށްހުރި ހިތާމައެއްގެ ބޮޑުކަމާއެވެ! އެބޭކަލަކަށް އެއުރެން ފުރައްސާރަކުރާގޮތުގައި މެނުވީ، އެއުރެންގެ ގާތަށް އެއްވެސް رسول އަކު ވަޑައެއްނުގަންނަވަތެވެ.

"woe, alas," they said, "we were really sinful."
އެއުރެން ބުނޫއެވެ. އޭ ތިމަންމެންނަށް ހުރި ހަލާކެއްގެ ބޮޑުކަމާއެވެ! ހަމަކަށަވަރުން، ތިމަންމެންވީ އަނިޔާވެރިން ކަމުގައެވެ.

alas for me! ah, would that i had never taken such an one for friend!
އޭ ހުރި ހަލާކެއްގެ ބޮޑުކަމާއެވެ! ސަހަރޯއެވެ! ތިމަން އެވެނި މީހަކު މިތުރަކު ކަމުގައި ނުހިފިނަމަ، ކިހާ ރަނގަޅުވީސްހެއްޔެވެ!

he will say, ‘alas, had i sent ahead for my life [in the hereafter]!’
އެދުވަހުން އޭނާ ބުނާނެތެވެ. އޭ ސަހަރޯއެވެ! ތިމަންގެ آخرة ގެ حياة އަށްޓަކައި (ހެޔޮ) عمل އެއް އިސްކުޅަނަމަ، ކިހާރަނގަޅުވީސް ހެއްޔެވެ؟

“woe to me – alas, if only i had not taken that one for a friend.”
އޭ ހުރި ހަލާކެއްގެ ބޮޑުކަމާއެވެ! ސަހަރޯއެވެ! ތިމަން އެވެނި މީހަކު މިތުރަކު ކަމުގައި ނުހިފިނަމަ، ކިހާ ރަނގަޅުވީސްހެއްޔެވެ!

alas for (my) servants! there comes not a messenger to them but they mock him!
އަޅުތަކުންގެ މައްޗަށްހުރި ހިތާމައެއްގެ ބޮޑުކަމާއެވެ! އެބޭކަލަކަށް އެއުރެން ފުރައްސާރަކުރާގޮތުގައި މެނުވީ، އެއުރެންގެ ގާތަށް އެއްވެސް رسول އަކު ވަޑައެއްނުގަންނަވަތެވެ.

he will say: "alas the woe! would that i had sent ahead something in my life."
އެދުވަހުން އޭނާ ބުނާނެތެވެ. އޭ ސަހަރޯއެވެ! ތިމަންގެ آخرة ގެ حياة އަށްޓަކައި (ހެޔޮ) عمل އެއް އިސްކުޅަނަމަ، ކިހާރަނގަޅުވީސް ހެއްޔެވެ؟

(alas!) if we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers!
ތިމަންމެންނަށް އަދި އެއްފަހަރު (ދުނިޔެއަށް) رجوع ވުމެއް ލިބޭނެ ނަމައެވެ. ފަހެ، އޭރުން ތިމަންމެން مؤمن ންގެ ތެރެއިން ވާހުށީމުއެވެ.
