(صالح علیہ السلام نے) فرمایا: اے میری قوم! تم لوگ بھلائی (یعنی رحمت) سے پہلے برائی (یعنی عذاب) میں کیوں جلدی چاہتے ہو؟ تم اللہ سے بخشش کیوں طلب نہیں کرتے تاکہ تم پر رحم کیا جائے،

behold, you are those who have disputed greatly concerning matters which you knew; why are you now disputing about matters that you know nothing about? allah knows it whereas you do not know.
اب تک تم نے ان باتوں میں بحث کی ہے جن کا کچھ علم تھا تو اب اس بات میں کیوں بحث کرتے ہو جس کا کچھ بھی علم نہیں ہے بیشک خدا جانتا ہے اور تم نہیں جانتے ہو

he said, “o my people, why are you quick to do evil rather than good? if only you would seek god’s forgiveness, so that you may be shown mercy.”
(صالح علیہ السلام نے) فرمایا: اے میری قوم! تم لوگ بھلائی (یعنی رحمت) سے پہلے برائی (یعنی عذاب) میں کیوں جلدی چاہتے ہو؟ تم اللہ سے بخشش کیوں طلب نہیں کرتے تاکہ تم پر رحم کیا جائے،

if you ask them, "who has created the heavens and the earth and has subdued the sun and moon?" they will say, "god has done it." so why are they wandering about!?
اور اگر آپ ان سے دریافت کریں کہ زمین وآسمان کا خالق اور سورج چاند کو کام میں لگانے واﻻ کون ہے؟ تو ان کا جواب یہی ہوگا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ، پھر کدھر الٹے جا رہے ہیں

tell them: 'did you consider (what you would do) were his chastisement to fall upon you suddenly by night or by day? so why are the culprits seeking to hasten its coming?
(اے رسول) ان لوگوں سے کہیے کیا تم نے اس بات پر غور کیا ہے کہ اگر اس کا عذاب (اچانک) رات کے وقت تم پر آجائے یا دن دہاڑے (تو تم کیا کروگے؟) آخر وہ کون سی چیز ہے جس کی مجرم جلدی کر رہے ہیں؟
