அவர்கள்தாம் நேர்வழிக்கு பதிலாக வழிகேட்டையும்; மன்னிப்பிற்கு பதிலாக வேதனையையும் விலைக்கு வாங்கிக் கொண்டவர்கள். இவர்களை நரக நெருப்பைச் சகித்துக் கொள்ளச் செய்தது எது?

but why should they make you a judge when the torah is with them which contains the law of god? even then they turn away. they are those who will never believe.
எனினும், இவர்கள் உம்மை தீர்ப்பு அளிப்பவராக எப்படி ஏற்றுக் கொள்வார்கள்? இவர்களிடத்திலோ தவ்ராத் (வேத) முள்ளது. அதில் அல்லாஹ்வின் கட்டளையும் உள்ளது. எனினும் அதைப் பின்னர் புறக்கணித்து விடுகிறார்கள்;. இவர்கள் முஃமின்களே அல்லர்.

yet it is not for the faithful to go forth en masse. but why should not there a group from each of their sections go forth to become learned in religion, and to warn their people when they return to them, so that they may beware?
முஃமின்கள் ஒட்டு மொத்தமாக புறப்பட்டுச் செல்லலாகாது. ஆனால் அவர்களில் ஒவ்வொரு வர்க்கத்தாரிலிருந்தும் ஒரு சிறிய கூட்டத்தார் சன்மார்க்க (ஞானத்தைக்) கற்றுக் கொள்வதற்காகவும், (வெறியேறி சென்ற அவர்கள் பின்னே தங்கியவர்களிடம்) திரும்பி வந்தால் அவர்களுக்கு அச்சமூட்டி எச்சரிப்பதற்காகவும் புறப்பட வேண்டாமா? இதைக் கொண்டே அவர்கள் தங்களை(த் தீமையினின்றும்) பாதுகாத்துக் கொள்வார்கள்.

here you are—you argue about things you know, but why do you argue about things you do not know? god knows, and you do not know.
உங்களுக்குச் சிறிது ஞானம் இருந்த விஷயங்களில் (இதுவரை) நீங்கள் தர்க்கம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தீர்கள்; (அப்படியிருக்க) உங்களுக்குச் சிறிதுகூட ஞானம் இல்லாத விஷயங்களில் ஏன் விவாதம் செய்ய முற்படுகிறீர்கள்? அல்லாஹ்தான் அறிவான்; நீங்கள் அறியமாட்டீர்கள்.

ah! you are the very ones who argue about that of which you have knowledge. but why do you argue about that of which you have no knowledge? and allah knows and you do not know.
உங்களுக்குச் சிறிது ஞானம் இருந்த விஷயங்களில் (இதுவரை) நீங்கள் தர்க்கம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தீர்கள்; (அப்படியிருக்க) உங்களுக்குச் சிறிதுகூட ஞானம் இல்லாத விஷயங்களில் ஏன் விவாதம் செய்ய முற்படுகிறீர்கள்? அல்லாஹ்தான் அறிவான்; நீங்கள் அறியமாட்டீர்கள்.

but why do they come to you for judgment, when they have the torah, in which is god’s law? yet they turn away after that. these are not believers.
எனினும், இவர்கள் உம்மை தீர்ப்பு அளிப்பவராக எப்படி ஏற்றுக் கொள்வார்கள்? இவர்களிடத்திலோ தவ்ராத் (வேத) முள்ளது. அதில் அல்லாஹ்வின் கட்டளையும் உள்ளது. எனினும் அதைப் பின்னர் புறக்கணித்து விடுகிறார்கள்;. இவர்கள் முஃமின்களே அல்லர்.

ah! ye are those who fell to disputing (even) in matters of which ye had some knowledge! but why dispute ye in matters of which ye have no knowledge? it is allah who knows, and ye who know not!
