(நபியே!) உம் இறைவனின் பாதையில் (மக்களை) விவேகத்துடனும், அழகிய உபதேசத்தைக் கொண்டும் நீர் அழைப்பீராக! இன்னும், அவர்களிடத்தில் மிக அழகான முறையில் தர்க்கிப்பீராக! மெய்யாக உம் இறைவன், அவன் வழியைவிட்டுத் தவறியவர்களையும் (அவன் வழியைச் சார்ந்து) நேர்வழி பெற்றவர்களையும் நன்கு அறிவான்.

(o prophet), you cannot grant guidance to whom you please. it is allah who guides those whom he will. he knows best who are amenable to guidance.

as for those who refrain from committing grave sins and indecent acts, though they may commit minor offences, your lord is unstinting in his forgiveness. he knows you when he brings you out of the earth, and when you were embryos in the wombs of your mothers; so do not make claims to be pure. he knows best who is truly righteous.
