and we sent not a warner unto a town but the affluent thereof said:' verily in that wherewith ye have been sent we are disbelievers.
และเรามิได้ส่งผู้ตักเตือนคนใดไปยังเมืองใด นอกจากบรรดาผู้ฟุ่มเฟือยของมันจะกล่าวว่า “แท้จริงเราเป็นผู้ปฏิเสธศรัทธาในสิ่งที่พวกท่านถูกส่งมา”
for it has been thus whenever we sent a warner to any community. its affluent ones said, "we reject what you have been sent with."
และเรามิได้ส่งผู้ตักเตือนคนใดไปยังเมืองใด นอกจากบรรดาผู้ฟุ่มเฟือยของมันจะกล่าวว่า “แท้จริงเราเป็นผู้ปฏิเสธศรัทธาในสิ่งที่พวกท่านถูกส่งมา”
then changed we the evil plight for good till they grew affluent and said: tribulation and distress did touch our fathers. then we seized them unawares, when they perceived not.
“ภายหลังเราได้เปลี่ยนความดีแทนที่ความชั่วจนกระทั่งพวกเขามีมาก และพวกเขากล่าวว่า แท้จริงได้ประสบบรรพบุรุษของเรามาแล้วซึ่งความเดือดร้อน และความสุขสบาย แล้วเราจึงได้ลงโทษพวกเขาโดยกระทันหันขณะที่พวกเขาไม่รู้ตัว”
and we did not send into a city any warner except that its affluent said, "indeed we, in that with which you were sent, are disbelievers."
และเรามิได้ส่งผู้ตักเตือนคนใดไปยังเมืองใด นอกจากบรรดาผู้ฟุ่มเฟือยของมันจะกล่าวว่า “แท้จริงเราเป็นผู้ปฏิเสธศรัทธาในสิ่งที่พวกท่านถูกส่งมา”
and in this wise we sent not before thee into any city a warner but the affluent thereof said: verily we! we found our fathers on a certain way and verily their footsteps we are following.
และเช่นนั้นแหละ เรามิได้ส่งผู้ตักเตือนคนใดก่อนหน้าเจ้าไปยังเมืองใด เว้นแต่บรรดาผู้ฟุ่มเฟือยของมัน (เมืองนั้น) จะกล่าวว่า แท้จริงเราได้พบเห็นบรรพบุรุษของเราอยู่ในแนวทางนี้ ดังนั้นเราจึงดำเนินตามแนวทางของพวกเขา
and then we changed their hardship into ease until they grew affluent and said, "our fathers had also experienced adversity and prosperity," then we seized them suddenly, unawares.

and thus it is: whenever we sent any warner to a city its affluent ones said: “we found our forefathers on a way and we continue to follow in their footsteps.”
และเช่นนั้นแหละ เรามิได้ส่งผู้ตักเตือนคนใดก่อนหน้าเจ้าไปยังเมืองใด เว้นแต่บรรดาผู้ฟุ่มเฟือยของมัน (เมืองนั้น) จะกล่าวว่า แท้จริงเราได้พบเห็นบรรพบุรุษของเราอยู่ในแนวทางนี้ ดังนั้นเราจึงดำเนินตามแนวทางของพวกเขา
(give to) the needy who are engaged in the service of god who are not able to move about in the land, whom the ignorant consider to be affluent as they refrain from asking. you can know them from their faces for they do not ask of men importunately. god is surely cognisant of good things that you spend.
(คือให้บริจาคทาน) แก่บรรดาผู้ที่ยากจนที่ถูกจำกัดตัวให้อยู่ในทางของอัลลอฮ์ โดยที่พวกเขาสามารถจะเดินทางไปในดินแดนอื่นๆ ได้(เพื่อประกอบอาชีพ) ผู้ที่ไม่รู้คิดว่าพวกเขาเป็นผู้มั่งมี อันเนื่องจากความสงบเสงี่ยมเจียมตัว โดยที่เจ้าจะรู้จักเขาได้ด้วยเครื่องหมายของพวกเขา พวกเขาจะไม่ขอจากผู้คนในสภาพเซ้าซี้ และสิ่งดีใด ๆ ที่พวกเจ้าบริจาคไปนั้น แท้จริงอัลลอฮ์ทรงรู้ดีในสิ่งนั้น
