“ทำไมท่านจึงไม่ปฏิบัติตามฉัน” ท่านฝ่าฝืนคำสั่งของฉันกระนั้นหรือ ?”

his eye did not waver, nor did it stray,
สายตา (ของมุฮัมมัด) มิได้เหลือบแลไปทางอื่น และมิได้ล่วงเกินไป

he said: i did it then when i was mistaken.
เขา (มูซา) กล่าวว่า ฉันได้กระทำมันโดยที่ฉันไม่รู้

why did they not see that it could not give them any response and had no power to harm or benefit them?
พวกเขาไม่รู้ดอกหรือว่า มันไม่อาจจะให้คำตอบแพวกเขา และมันไม่สามารถจะให้โทษและให้คุณแก่พวกเขาเลย

but he beguiled a great many of you. why did you not then understand?
และโดยแน่นอน มันได้ทำให้หมู่ชนจำนวนมากของพวกเจ้าหลงทาง ทำไมพวกเจ้าจึงไม่ใช้สติปัญญาใคร่ครวญเล่า?

the eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit.
สายตา (ของมุฮัมมัด) มิได้เหลือบแลไปทางอื่น และมิได้ล่วงเกินไป

why did they not bring four witnesses upon it? since they did not bring witnesses, they themselves are liars before allah.
ทำไมพวกเขาจึงไม่นำพยานสี่คนมาเพื่อมัน หากพวกเขาไม่นำพยานเหล่านั้นมาแล้ว ดังนั้นชนเหล่านั้น ณที่อัลลอฮ์พวกเขาเป็นผู้กล่าวเท็จ

he said, “i did it then, when i was of those astray.

(his) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong!

why did they not bring four witnesses against it? but since they did not bring the witnesses, in god's sight they are the liars.

why did they not bring four witnesses to testify to it? if they fail to bring the witnesses, then in god’s sight, they are liars.

but iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance.
เว้นแต่อิบลีส มันปฏิเสธที่จะอยู่ร่วมกับบรรดาผู้สุญูด

but when misfortune befell them from us why did they not humble themselves? their hearts had hardened and satan had made their deeds seem fair to them.
แล้วไฉนเล่า พวกเขาจึงไม่นอบน้อม เมื่อการลงโทษของเราได้มายังพวกเขา แต่ทว่าหัวใจของพวกเขาแข็งกระด้าง และชัยฎอนก็ได้ให้เป็นที่สวยงามแก่พวกเขาด้วย ในสิ่งที่พวกเขากระทำกัน

allah has forgiven you! why did you give them leave (to stay behind) until it was clear to you which of them was truthful and knew those who lied?
“อัลลอฮ์นั้นได้ทรงอภัยโทษให้แก่เจ้า แล้วเพราะเหตุใดเล่าเจ้าจึงอนุมัติให้แก่พวกเขา จนกว่าจะได้ประจักษ์แก่เจ้าก่อน ซึ่งบรรดาผู้ที่พูดจริง และจนกว่าเจ้าจะได้รู้บรรดาผู้ที่กล่าวเท็จ”

[moses] said, "i did it, then, while i was of those astray.
เขา (มูซา) กล่าวว่า ฉันได้กระทำมันโดยที่ฉันไม่รู้

(o prophet), may allah forgive you! why did you give them leave to stay behind before it became clear to you as to who were truthful and who were liars?
“อัลลอฮ์นั้นได้ทรงอภัยโทษให้แก่เจ้า แล้วเพราะเหตุใดเล่าเจ้าจึงอนุมัติให้แก่พวกเขา จนกว่าจะได้ประจักษ์แก่เจ้าก่อน ซึ่งบรรดาผู้ที่พูดจริง และจนกว่าเจ้าจะได้รู้บรรดาผู้ที่กล่าวเท็จ”

the sight [of the prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit].
สายตา (ของมุฮัมมัด) มิได้เหลือบแลไปทางอื่น และมิได้ล่วงเกินไป

and with truth have we revealed it, and with truth did it come; and we have not sent you but as the giver of good news and as a warner.
และด้วยความจริง เราได้ประทานมัน (อัลกุรอาน) ลงมา และด้วยความจริงมันได้ลงมาและเรามิได้ส่งเจ้าเพื่ออื่นใด นอกจากเพื่อเป็นผู้แจ้งข่าวดี และเป็นผู้ตักเตือน

and why did ye not, when ye heard it, say? - "it is not right of us to speak of this: glory to allah! this is a most serious slander!"
เมื่อพวกเจ้าได้ยินมัน ทำไมพวกเจ้าจึงไม่กล่าวว่า “ไม่บังควรที่เราจะพูดถึงเรื่องนี้ มหาบริสุทธิ์แห่งพระองค์ท่านนี่มันเป็นการกล่าวร้ายอย่ามหันต์ !”

and when we said to the angels: make obeisance to adam, they made obeisance, but iblis (did it not); he refused.
