དེ་ནས་བྲམ་ཟེའི་ཁྱེའུ་པང་ནས་སྐྱེས་ཀྱིས་ཉི་མ་གཅིག་ཀྱང་ཟན་གཅད་པ་བྱས་སོ། །

one song for me
எனக்காக அர்ப்பணிக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு பாடல்

the blessed one said.
བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་བཀའ་སྩལ་པ།

one monk then replied:
དེ་ནས་དགེ་སློང་ཞིག་གིས་དེའི་ཚེ་ཚིགས་སུ་བཅད་པ་སྨྲས་པ།

the blessed one replied,
བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་བཀའ་སྩལ་པ།

and the blessed one thought,
བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་དགོངས་པ།

sat, fanning the blessed one.
བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱི་སྣམ་ལོགས་ན་བསིལ་ཡབ་ཐོགས་ཏེ་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ལ་གཡོབ་ཅིང་འདུག་གོ། །

before requesting the blessed one,
ཕྱོགས་གཅིག་ཏུ་འདུག་ནས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ལ་ཚེ་དང་ལྡན་པ་དགེ་འདུན་འཚོས་འདི་སྐད་ཅེས་གསོལ་ཏོ། །

one day, the monk received alms right away, took them, and headed home.
ཇི་ཙམ་དུས་གཞན་ཞིག་ན་དགེ་སློང་དེས་བསོད་སྙོམས་གློ་བུར་བ་རྙེད་ནས་དེས་དེ་བླངས་ཏེ་ཕྱིར་འོངས་པ་དང་།

“reverend, the blessed one has said,
བཙུན་པ་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་

the rainy season lasts one month, the short rainy season lasts a day,
དབྱར་གྱི་དུས་ནི་ཟླ་བ་གཅིག་གོ། །དབྱར་ཐུང་ངུའི་དུས་ནི་ཉིན་ཞག་གཅིག་གོ། །

if one should have reached twenty years,
གལ་ཏེ་གཅིག་ལོ་ཉི་ཤུ་ལོན་ན་

on the very same day that prince bimbisāra was born,
གང་གི་ཉིན་མོ་གཞོན་ནུ་གཟུགས་ཅན་སྙིང་པོ་བཙས་པ་དེ་ཉིད་ཀྱི་ཉིན་མོ་

the blessed one has reached saṃsāra’s end,
བཅོམ་ལྡན་སྲིད་པའི་མཐར་མཛད་པས། །

then one day he fell ill and though he was ministered to with medicinal roots, stalks, leaves, flowers,
དེ་དུས་གཞན་ཞིག་ན་ན་བར་གྱུར་ནས་དེ་ལ་རྩ་བ་དང་། སྡོང་བུ་དང་། ལོ་མ་དང་། མེ་ཏོག་དང་།

from this day forward, you must endeavor to fully safeguard your intentions
དེང་ཕྱིན་ཆད་ཁྱོད་སྤྱད་པ་མ་ཡིན་པ་དང་།

however, on that day not a single being followed after them.
སྤྱོད་ཡུལ་དུ་དོང་བ་དང་དེའི་ཉིན་པར་སེམས་ཅན་གཅིག་ཀྱང་ཕྱི་བཞིན་ཕྱི་བཞིན་རྗེས་སུ་མི་འབྲང་ངོ་། །
