the motifs used for decorating the easter egg have been cherished for centuries within the walls of serbian medieval monasteries on the territories of the old serbian states. taken down from the walls of thirty-six monasteries, six theme collections have been produced, classified by territory: kosovo and metohia, morava school, ohrid heritage, old raska, old serbia and zeta. the majority of these monasteries nourish the traces of the stormy serbian history, while some of them, as well as the ornaments that depict them, have been either lost forever, damaged or are inaccessible to us, seized or stripped of their original history. however, in this way we shall save them from oblivion.
