ayon kay guzman (2007), ang isa sa mga pampakay na antas ng kamalayan ng mga matatanda ay ang plain; sumasaklaw ito sa damdamin ng pag-abanduna at pagpatay. ang hierarchy of needs ni abraham maslow ay ginamit sa pag-aaral na ito upang makita at suriin ang mga damdamin na nadama ng mga elder sa loob ng mga tirahan na tahanan. ginagamit din ito upang magbigay ng mga sagot sa mga taong interesado sa kung ano ang kanilang mga karanasan, ang kanilang mga pangunahing pangangailangan at desisyon bago pumasok sa loob ng pundasyon.l
according to guzman (2007), one of the thematic levels of the elderly’s sense of belongingness is the plain; it encompasses the feelings of abandonment and avolition. abraham maslow’s hierarchy of needs is used in this study to see and explore the emotions felt by the elderlies inside the sheltered homes. it is also used to provide answers to the people who are curious on what are their experiences, their basic needs and decisions before going inside the foundation.l
