གང་ཟག་ལོ་ཉི་ཤུ་ལོན་པ་ནི་
“persons who have reached twenty years of age, on the other hand, can accept all they may be subjected to

དེ་ཡིས་ཕྱོགས་རྣམས་ཐམས་ཅད་སྣང་བགྱིས་པ། །ཉི་གདུགས་བདལ་བར་གྱུར་པ་ཇི་བཞིན་ནོ། །
illuminating every direction, so why bother with a parasol?

གལ་ཏེ་གཉི་ག་ལོ་ཉི་ཤུ་མ་ལོན་ན་
if neither has reached twenty years,

ཁྱོད་འདི་ཉིད་དུ་གདུགས་རེ་རེ་ཞིང་གཤེགས་ཏེ། ཞལ་ཟས་ཀྱི་བྱ་བ་མཛོད་ལ་བཞུད་ཅིག །
so every day you must come to this very place and take your meal before returning.’

དེ་དག་ཉི་མ་ཉུང་ཤས་ཤིག་འཁོད་ནས་སྨྲས་པ།
a few days after they had settled in, they said,

བདག་གི་བུ་བཙས་པ་ན་འཇིག་རྟེན་ཉི་མའི་གཟུགས་ཤར་བ་ལྟར་སྣང་ཞིང་
“when my son was born, the world was lit as if by the gold of the rising sun.

ཉི་མ་ཤར་བ་དང་། ཉི་མ་བརྒྱད་ཆ་ཤར་བ་དང་།
sunrise, an eighth of the sun’s passage,

དགེ་སློང་དག་སྔོན་བྱུང་བ་བསྐལ་པ་བཟང་པོ་འདི་ཉིད་ལ་སྐྱེ་དགུའི་ཚེ་ལོ་ཉི་ཁྲི་ཐུབ་པ་ན་
monks, long ago during this fortunate eon, when the lifespan of beings was twenty thousand years,

གང་གིས་དེ་མི་ཤེས་པ་དེས་ནི་ཉི་མ་དང་ཟླ་བ་གཉིས་མི་ཤེས་པ་ཡིན་ནོ།
not to know him is not to know the sun or the moon.

ཉི་མ་འཆར་བའི་དུས་ཀྱི་ཚེ་ཉི་མའི་འོད་ཟེར་དག་གིས་ཕོག་ནས་སད་པ་དང་། ཇི་ཙམ་ན་ཅི་ཡང་
when the sun rose, its rays struck the venerable saṅgharakṣita as he lay asleep on the empty, sandy beach, waking him from his slumber.

ཀུན་དགའ་བོ་དགེ་སློང་དག་གང་ཟག་ལོ་ཉི་ཤུ་མ་ལོན་པ་དགེ་སློང་གི་དངོས་པོར་བསྙེན་པར་རྫོགས་པར་བྱེད་དམ།
“Ānanda, do monks grant ordination into the monkhood to persons who have not yet reached twenty years?”

ཇི་ཙམ་ན་ཉི་མ་འཆར་བ་ནས་ཇི་ཙམ་ན་ནུབ་པར་འགྱུར་བ་དེའི་བར་དུ་ཁྱོད་དང་འདྲ་བའི་རྒོལ་བ་གཞན་མེད་དོ།
from the time the sun rises to the time it sets, there shall be no challenger to equal you.”

ཇི་ཙམ་ན་བདག་ཅག་གིས་ཟན་གྱི་གྲལ་དུ་འཐབ་མོ་བགྱིས་པས་ལས་དེའི་རྣམ་པར་སྨིན་པས་བདག་ཅག་ཉི་ཚེ་བའི་སེམས་ཅན་དམྱལ་བ་རྣམས་ཀྱི་ནང་དུ་སྐྱེས་ཏེ།
while in the meal queue, we fought and, as the fruition of that karma, have been born as denizens of an ephemeral hell.

དེ་དགེ་སློང་གི་འཁོར་ཉི་ཁྲི་དང་བཱ་རཱ་ཎ་སཱི་ན་དྲང་སྲོང་སྨྲ་བ་རི་དགས་ཀྱི་ནགས་ན་ཉེ་བར་རྟེན་ཅིང་བཞུགས་སོ། །
“with his following of twenty thousand monks, he lived and stayed in the deer park of Ṛṣipatana near vārāṇasī.

གང་གི་ཚེ་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་དཔའ་ལོ་ཉི་ཤུ་རྩ་དགུ་པ་ཞེས་ཀྱང་འདོད་པ་དག་ལ་མ་རོལ་ཏེ་རྒན་པོ་དང་། ན་བ་དང་། ཤི་བ་གཟིགས་པས་ཐུགས་བྱུང་ནས་
when the blessed bodhisattva reached the age of twenty-nine, he ceased to revel in desires, for the sight of the elderly, the sick, and the dead had moved him deeply.

གང་གིས་སྡིག་པའི་ལས་བྱས་པ། །དགེ་བ་ཡིས་ནི་འགོག་བྱེད་དེ། །ཉི་ཟླ་སྤྲིན་ནས་བྱུང་བ་ལྟར། །འཇིག་རྟེན་འདིར་ནི་དེར་སྣང་འགྱུར། །
who recited a verse: “he who has done some wrong may curb it through virtue to bring light to this life, as the sun and moon appear from behind clouds.”
