azt is el kell mondani, hogy európának meg kell találnia a hangot oroszországgal. egy új, másmilyen, erősebb hangot. oroszország visszatért a 19. századi, úgynevezett „befolyási övezetek” jellemezte politikához, egyszerűbben fogalmazva a reálpolitika doktrínájához. bizonyítékot szolgáltatnak erre oroszország azon megjegyzései, miszerint kiváltsága van érdekeit érvényesíteni a szomszédos országokban. a reálpolitikának ezt a formáját oroszországban a hazai agresszív nacionalizmus és a szomszédok ellenségképének erősítése táplálja. ebben a megvilágításban döntő fontosságú, hogy európa megértse, keményebb hatalmi eszközökhöz kell folyamodnia.
it needs to be said that europe must find a way to speak to russia with a new, different, stronger voice. the reason for this is that russia has reverted to the 19th-century ‘spheres of influence’ approach or, simply put, the doctrine of realpolitik. russia’s talk of privileged interests in its neighbourhood is testimony to this. this realpolitik is being fuelled by aggressive nationalism at home and by enemy-labelling in russia of the countries surrounding it. in such a light, it is crucial for europe to understand that it needs to implement its harder instruments of power.
