tell me, should we let them enjoy for some years,
اچھا یہ بھی بتاؤ کہ اگر ہم نے انہیں کئی سال بھی فائده اٹھانے دیا

think! if we let them enjoy life for some years,
اچھا یہ بھی بتاؤ کہ اگر ہم نے انہیں کئی سال بھی فائده اٹھانے دیا

count how many items are under the magic hat after some have got away
کچھ چيزينجا دوئي ٹو پي سے دور جا نے کے بعد اسکے اطراف کتني چيزيں رهتي هيں شمار کرو

therefore observe, that if we give them some comforts for some years, –
اچھا یہ بھی بتاؤ کہ اگر ہم نے انہیں کئی سال بھی فائده اٹھانے دیا

[after some years] the brothers of joseph came and entered his presence. he recognized them, but they did not recognize him.
اور (قحط سالی کے دنوں میں غلہ خریدنے) یوسف کے بھائی (مصر) آئے اور (یوسف) کے پاس گئے تو اس نے انہیں پہچان لیا جبکہ وہ اسے نہ پہچان سکے۔

they will be reclining on thrones lined up, and we will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.
برابر بچھے ہوئے شاندار تختے پر تکیے لگائے ہوئے۔ اور ہم نے ان کے نکاح بڑی بڑی آنکھوں والی (حوروں) سے کر دیئے ہیں

and if we give him a taste of prosperity, after some adversity has afflicted him, he will say, “troubles have gone away from me.” he becomes excited and proud.
اور اگر اُس مصیبت کے بعد جو اُس پر آئی تھی ہم اسے نعمت کا مزا چکھاتے ہیں تو کہتا ہے میرے تو سارے دلدر پار ہو گئے، پھر وہ پھولا نہیں سماتا اور اکڑنے لگتا ہے

and if we cause him to taste grace after some misfortune that had befallen him, he saith: the ills have gone from me. lo! he is exultant, boastful;
اور اگر اُس مصیبت کے بعد جو اُس پر آئی تھی ہم اسے نعمت کا مزا چکھاتے ہیں تو کہتا ہے میرے تو سارے دلدر پار ہو گئے، پھر وہ پھولا نہیں سماتا اور اکڑنے لگتا ہے

when we make the people taste mercy after some adversity has touched them, they begin to scheme against our revelations. say, “god is swifter in scheming.” our envoys are writing down what you scheme.
اور جب تکلیف پہنچنے کے بعد ہم نے لوگوں کو ذرا رحمت کا مزہ چکھادیا تو فورا ہماری آیتوں میں مّکاری کرنے لگے تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ خدا تم سے تیز تر تدبیریں کرنے والا ہے اور ہمارے نمائندے تمہارے مکر کو برابر لکھ رہے ہیں

whenever we let mankind taste mercy after some adversity has afflicted them, they forthwith turn to devising false arguments against our signs. say, "god is swifter in his devising! our angels are recording your intrigues."
اور جب تکلیف پہنچنے کے بعد ہم نے لوگوں کو ذرا رحمت کا مزہ چکھادیا تو فورا ہماری آیتوں میں مّکاری کرنے لگے تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ خدا تم سے تیز تر تدبیریں کرنے والا ہے اور ہمارے نمائندے تمہارے مکر کو برابر لکھ رہے ہیں
