how shall we sing the lord's song in a strange land?
singathini na ukuvuma ingoma kayehova emhlabeni wolunye uhlanga?

and the people asked him, saying, what shall we do then?
zaye izihlwele zibuza kuye, zisithi, masenze ntoni na ke?

what shall we say then? is there unrighteousness with god? god forbid.
sithini na ke ngoko? kukho ukuswela kulungisa kusini na kuye uthixo? nakanye!

for with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
ngokuba likuwe ithende lobomi; ekukhanyeni kwakho sibona ukukhanya.

god forbid. how shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
nakanye! thina safayo nje kwisono, singathini na ukuba sahlala kuso?

what shall we say then? shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
masithini na ngoko? masihlale sihleli na esonweni, ukuze ubabalo lwande?

then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, master, what shall we do?
kweza ke nababuthi berhafu ukuba babhaptizwe, bathi kuye, mfundisi, masenze ntoni na?

and if thou say in thine heart, how shall we know the word which the lord hath not spoken?
xa ke uthe entliziyweni yakho, sothini na ukulazi ilizwi angalithethanga uyehova?

what shall we then say to these things? if god be for us, who can be against us?
sithini na ke ngoko kwezi zinto? ukuba uthixo ungakuthi, ngubani na ongasichasayo?

and he said, which way shall we go up? and he answered, the way through the wilderness of edom.
wathi, sonyuka ngayiphi na indlela? wathi, ngendlela ephuma entlango yakwaedom.

shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our god in marrying strange wives?

and he said, whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of god? or with what comparison shall we compare it?

when they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, lord, shall we smite with the sword?

and the men of israel said unto the hivites, peradventure ye dwell among us; and how shall we make a league with you?

and if ye shall say, what shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase:

he answered and said unto them, give ye them to eat. and they say unto him, shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?
waphendula wathi kubo, bapheni nina badle. bathi kuye, simke na siye kuthenga izonka ngeedenariyo ezimakhulu mabini, sibaphe badle?

and the philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, what shall we do to the ark of the lord? tell us wherewith we shall send it to his place.
amafilisti abiza ababingeleli nabavumisi, esithi, siyithini na ityeya kayehova? saziseni into esingayigodusa nayo, iye endaweni yayo.

but if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of god, what shall we say? is god unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (i speak as a man)

and the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of assyria: and how shall we escape?

and this man shall be the peace, when the assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.
