उस ने कहा, मैं ने इस्राएल को कष्ट नहीं दिया, परन्तु तू ही ने और तेरे पिता के घराने ने दिया है; क्योंकि तुम यहोवा की आज्ञाओ को टालकर बाल देवताओं की उपासना करने लगे।

और मैं तो अपने बाप दादा इबराहीम व इसहाक़ व याक़ूब के मज़हब पर चलने वाला हूँ मुनासिब नहीं कि हम ख़ुदा के साथ किसी चीज़ को शरीक बनाएँ ये भी ख़ुदा की एक बड़ी मेहरबानी है हम पर भी और तमाम लोगों पर मगर बहुतेरे लोग उसका शुक्रिया अदा नहीं करते

" and i have followed the religion of my fathers , - ibrahim , ishaque and ya ' qub , and never could we attribute any partners whatsoever to allah . this is from the grace of allah to us and to mankind , but most men thank not .
अपने पूर्वज इबराहीम , इसहाक़ और याक़ूब का तरीक़ा अपनाया है । इमसे यह नहीं हो सकता कि हम अल्लाह के साथ किसी चीज़ को साझी ठहराएँ । यह हमपर और लोगों पर अल्लाह का अनुग्रह है । किन्तु अधिकतर लोग आभार नहीं प्रकट करते

और मैं तो अपने बाप दादा इबराहीम व इसहाक़ व याक़ूब के मज़हब पर चलने वाला हूँ मुनासिब नहीं कि हम ख़ुदा के साथ किसी चीज़ को शरीक बनाएँ ये भी ख़ुदा की एक बड़ी मेहरबानी है हम पर भी और तमाम लोगों पर मगर बहुतेरे लोग उसका शुक्रिया अदा नहीं करते

अपने पूर्वज इबराहीम , इसहाक़ और याक़ूब का तरीक़ा अपनाया है । इमसे यह नहीं हो सकता कि हम अल्लाह के साथ किसी चीज़ को साझी ठहराएँ । यह हमपर और लोगों पर अल्लाह का अनुग्रह है । किन्तु अधिकतर लोग आभार नहीं प्रकट करते

had the gain been immediate or the journey easy , they would have followed you ; but the distance seemed far to them . yet they will swear by allah : ' had we been able , we would have gone out with you ' they bring destruction upon their souls . allah knows that they are lying .
अगर सरे दस्त फ़ायदा और सफर आसान होता तो यक़ीनन ये लोग तुम्हारा साथ देते मगर इन पर मुसाफ़त की मशक़क़त तूलानी हो गई और अगर पीछे रह जाने की वज़ह से पूछोगे तो ये लोग फौरन ख़ुदा की क़समें खॉएगें कि अगर हम में सकत होती तो हम भी ज़रूर तुम लोगों के साथ ही चल खड़े होते ये लोग झूठी कसमें खाकर अपनी जान आप हलाक किए डालते हैं और ख़ुदा तो जानता है कि ये लोग बेशक झूठे हैं

but the chiefs of those who disbelieved from among his people said : we do not consider you but a mortal like ourselves , and we do not see any have followed you but those who are the meanest of us at first thought and we do not see in you any excellence over us ; nay , we deem you liars .
तो उनके सरदार जो काफ़िर थे कहने लगे कि हम तो तुम्हें अपना ही सा एक आदमी समझते हैं और हम तो देखते हैं कि तुम्हारे पैरोकार हुए भी हैं तो बस सिर्फ हमारे चन्द रज़ील लोग और हम तो अपने ऊपर तुम लोगों की कोई फज़ीलत नहीं देखते बल्कि तुम को झूठा समझते हैं

, had the gain been close at hand , and easy the journey , they would surely have followed you ; but hard was the journey and long the going . even then they swear by god : " if we had the strength we would surely have gone out with you . " they are only ruining themselves , for god is aware they lie .
यदि निकट ही कुछ मिलनेवाला होता और सफ़र भी हलका होता तो वे अवश्य तुम्हारे पीछे चल पड़ते , किन्तु मार्ग की दूरी उन्हें कठिन और बहुत दीर्घ प्रतीत हुई । अब वे अल्लाह की क़समें खाएँगे कि , " यदि हममें इसकी सामर्थ्य होती तो हम अवश्य तुम्हारे साथ निकलते । " वे अपने आपको तबाही में डाल रहे है और अल्लाह भली - भाँति जानता है कि निश्चय ही वे झूठे है
