Ва аз ту мепурсанд: «Чӣ чиз нафақа кунанд?

they have not esteemed god as he ought to be esteemed.
Худоро нашинохтанд, ончунон ки лоиқи шинохти Ӯст.

man prays for evil in the manner he ought to pray for good.
Ва одамӣ ба дуъо бадиеро металабад, чунон, ки гӯӣ ба дуъо хайреро меҷӯяд.

or add to it, and recite the quran as it ought to be recited.
ё андаке бар нима бияфзой ва Қуръонро оҳиставу равшан бихон.

and man prays for evil as he ought to pray for good, and man is ever hasty.
Ва одамӣ ба дуъо бадиеро металабад, чунон, ки гӯӣ ба дуъо хайреро меҷӯяд. Ва одамӣ то буда, шитобзада будааст.

and strive in his cause as ye ought to strive, (with sincerity and under discipline).
Дар роҳи Худованд, чунон ки бояд ҷиҳод кунед. Ӯ шуморо баргузид.

these ought not to enter them except in fear. for them is disgrace in this world, and for them is a terrible punishment in the hereafter.
Раво нест дар он масҷидҳо ҷуз бимноку тарсон дохил шаванд ва насибашон дар дунё хорӣ ва дар охират азобе бузург аст!

saying: ye shall not worship ought except allah. verily i am unto you from him a warner and a bearer of glad tidings.
ки ғайри Худои якторо напарастед, ман аз ҷониби Ӯ тарсонандаи шумо ва низ муждадиҳандае барои шумо ҳастам!

say thou await ye for us ought save one of the two excellences; while for you we wait that allah shall afflict you with a torment from himself or at our hands.
Бигӯ: «Оё ҷуз яке аз он ду некӣ интизори чизи дигареро барои мо доред? Вале мо мунтазирем, ки азоби Худо ё аз ҷониби Ӯ ё ба дасти мо ба шумо бирасад.

that day they shall follow the caller for whom there shall be no crookedness; and voices shall be humbled for the compassionate; so that thou shalt not hear ought except pattering
Дар он рӯз аз паи он доъӣ (Исрофил), ки ҳеҷ каҷиро дар ӯ роҳ нест, равон гарданд. Ва садоҳо дар баробари Худои раҳмон паст мешаванд ва аз ҳеҷ кас ғайри садои пое нахоҳӣ шунид.

and strive hard in allah's cause as you ought to strive (with sincerity and with all your efforts that his name should be superior).
Дар роҳи Худованд, чунон ки бояд ҷиҳод кунед. Ӯ шуморо баргузид.

those to whom we have given the book follow it as it ought to be followed: they have faith in it. as for those who deny it—it is they who are the losers.
Касоне, ки китобашон додаем ва ончунон, ки сазовор аст, онро мехонанд, ба он имон доранд ва онон, ки ба он имон надоранд, зиёнкорон ҳастанд.

nor on those who, when they came unto thee that thou mightest mount them and thou saidst: i find not any animal to mount you on, turned back while their eyes overflowed with tears for grief that they could not find ought to expend.
Ва низ бар онон, ки назди ту омаданд, то маркаб барои набардашон диҳӣ ва ту гуфтӣ, ки маркабе надорам ва онҳо барои харҷ кардан ҳеҷ наёфтанд ва ашкрезону ғамгин бозгаштанд, гуноҳе нест.

and whoever desires the hereafter and strives for it as he ought to strive and he is a believer; (as for) these, their striving shall surely be accepted.
Ва ҳар кӣ хоҳони охират бошад ва дар талаби он саъй кунад ва мӯъмин бошад, ҷазои саъйаш дода хоҳад шуд.

as for monasticism, it is they who invented it; we did not prescribe it for them. they themselves invented it in pursuit of allah's good pleasure, and then they did not observe it as it ought to have been observed.
Ва руҳбонияте (узлат; гӯшанншинӣ), ки ба бидъат овардаанд, Мо бар онҳо муқаррар накардаем, аммодар он хушнудии Худо меҷӯстанд, вале ҳаққи, онро ба ҷо нагузориданд.
