ik heb het werk van de commissie cultuur, jeugd, onderwijs en media op de voet gevolgd, en vooral ook dat van het bemiddelingscomité, en ik ben dus persoonlijk zeer tevreden over het tot stand komen van dit verslag, maar ik ben zeer teleurgesteld over de uitermate starre houding van de lidstaten, die eerst mooie verhalen afsteken over de cultuur als identiteitsfactor en als bron van werkgelegenheid, maar daarna weigeren om hierin te investeren.
personally, being heavily involved in following the work of the committee on culture, youth, education and the media and, above all, that of the conciliation committee, i am very happy to see this report brought to a conclusion but very sad to note the rigid attitude of member states who, whilst having fine words to say on the theme of culture as a factor of identity and in the development of jobs, refuse to invest in the theme.
