het ergste is echter vooral - en wat dat betreft ben ik het roerend eens met mevrouw bonino - dat vrouwen het slachtoffer zijn van religieus en politiek fundamentalisme, van hyperconservatieve opvattingen en autoritaire regimes die hun macht voor een groot deel ontlenen aan het feit dat zij het seksueel gedrag van vrouwen, hun levenswijze, hun reproductieve functies en zelfs kledingswijze controleren.
however, what is worse, and here i agree completely with mrs bonino, is that women are the main victims of religious and political fundamentalism, of ultra-conservatism and of autocratic regimes who hang on to their power by controlling the sexual conduct of women, their way of life, their reproductive functions and even their mode of dress.
