mine answer to them that do examine me is this,
ለሚመረምሩኝ መልሴ ይህ ነው። ልንበላና ልንጠጣ መብት የለንምን?

and what is this in your right hand , o musa !
« ሙሳ ሆይ ! ይህችም በቀኝ እጅህ ያለችው ምንድን ናት » ( ተባለ ) ፡ ፡

is this a better reception , or the zaqqum tree ?
በመስተንግዶነት ይህ ይበልጣልን ? ወይስ የዘቁም ዛፍ ?

is this a better hospitality , or the tree of bitterness ?

አእምሮዎቻቸው በዚህ ያዟቸዋልን ? አይደለም በእውነቱ እነርሱ ወሰን አላፊዎች ሕዝቦች ናቸው ፡ ፡

and they say , “ when is this promise , if you are truthful ? ”
« እውነተኞችም እንደ ኾናችሁ ይህ ቀጠሮ መቼ ነው » ይላሉ ፡ ፡

and of his signs is this : he created you of dust , and behold you human beings , ranging widely !
እናንተንም ከዐፈር መፍጠሩ ከዚያም እናንተ ወዲያውኑ የምትበታተኑ ሰዎች መኾናችሁ ከአስደናቂ ምልክቶቹ ነው ፡ ፡

and they say , " when is this promise , if you should be truthful ? "
« እውነተኞችም እንደ ሆናችሁ ይህ ቀጠሮ መቼ ነው ? » ይላሉ ፡ ፡

and when they see thee , they take thee in mockery only : ' what , is this he whom god sent forth as a messenger ?
ባዩህም ጊዜ ያ አላህ መልእክተኛ አድርጎ የላከው ይህ ነውን እያሉ መሳለቂያ እንጂ ሌላ አያደርጉህም ፡ ፡

assuredly we have been promised this aforetime , we and our fathers . naught is this but fables of the ancients .
« ይህንን እኛም ከፊት የነበሩት አባቶቻችንም በእርግጥ ተቀጥረንበታል ፡ ፡ ይህ የመጀመሪያዎቹ ሰዎች ተረቶች እንጅ ሌላ አይደለም » ( አሉ ) ፡ ፡

and when they see you , they take you for nothing but mockery : “ is this the one god sent as a messenger ? ”
ባዩህም ጊዜ ያ አላህ መልእክተኛ አድርጎ የላከው ይህ ነውን እያሉ መሳለቂያ እንጂ ሌላ አያደርጉህም ፡ ፡

assuredly this we have been promised--we and our fathers-- aforetime : naught is this but the fables of the ancients .
« ይህንን እኛም ከእኛ በፊትም የነበሩት አባቶቻችን በእርግጥ ተቀጥረናል ፡ ፡ ይህ የመጀመሪያዎቹ ሰዎች ተረቶች እንጂ ሌላ አይደለም » ( አሉ ) ፡ ፡

and when they see thee ( o muhammad ) they treat thee only as a jest ( saying ) : is this he whom allah sendeth as a messenger ?
ባዩህም ጊዜ ያ አላህ መልእክተኛ አድርጎ የላከው ይህ ነውን እያሉ መሳለቂያ እንጂ ሌላ አያደርጉህም ፡ ፡

and is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the children of israel ? "
« ይህችም የእስራኤልን ልጆች ባሪያ በማድረግህ በእኔ ላይ የምትመጻደቅባት ጸጋ ነት ፡ ፡ »

" enter ye the gates of hell , to dwell therein : and evil is ( this ) abode of the arrogant ! "
የገሀነምን በሮች በውስጧ ዘውታሪዎች ስትኾኑ ግቡ ( ይባላሉ ) ፡ ፡ የትዕቢተኞችም መኖሪያ ( ገሀነም ) ምን ትከፋ !
